| I had a myers Parrot and he was wild caught so I don't know much about
handling but I do know he was not as noisey as my moustache parakeets.
He had a high pitched screech but he did not go on like my Female
moustache does. aaargh.. you can't here the T.V. over her :*)

| I've never seen a Meyers but I have read about them in books and in an
issue of Bird Talk. I can try to find the article and mail it to you
if you would like. From what I read, they seem to be quiet and very
friendly birds. They would require plenty of veggies, fruits, pellets
and good seed mix (if desired).
They are small parrots and would probably be a good choice for you
since you are coming from the finch world.

755.3 | thanks for the replies | ALFA1::COOK | Chips R Us | Fri Nov 20 1992 11:56 | 12 |
| Well, the one I met this past weekend was just adorable! He was
hanging half of his little body out of the cage to get petted. And
he would gently hold a finger in his beak to keep people near him.
His color was different from any other bird I've seen...his head and
neck are gray and his body is green. I didn't hear a peep out of him
and the sign on his cage said Meyers parrots are quiet.
I have the most recent Bird Talk (the one with a cockatoo on the
cover). I'd love to see the article if you can find it!

755.4 | Meyers are close to Senagals | ROYALT::PULSIFER | UNHAMPERED BY FACTS AND INFORMATION | Mon Nov 23 1992 09:17 | 5 |
| Meyers are closely related to Senagals, so most article on either would
apply. I remember from reading that these are active, playful little
clowns, that are apt to lie on their backs and play with toys.
