689.0. "REGERT. AND HEAT" by CSLALL::ANGELICAS () Thu May 14 1992 10:05

    Does anybodys pet bird go through a very difficult time durring the
    spring? My Sampson (Orange Winged Amazon) every year around the middle
    of May till the end of May goes through what seems like heat. He gets
    agressive and very noisy. He has even gone as far as bending the bars
    on his cage to try to get out. Luckily it only lasts a few days when
    he's really bad, then he just stops. Another thing he just started
    doing is regergitating. I was told this is the highest form of affect-
    ion. He does this every morning before I go to work. He also does this
    when I'm home and he's trying to get my attention. Any comments on
    these subjects would be appreciated. Come on noters does your bird
    puke for you?

    	My Tiel Cory once regergitated and my Wife and I didn't know if it
    was because he was sick or what. So that's just his way of telling us
    that he loves us?

689.3THINK AGAIN!CSLALL::ANGELICASFri May 15 1992 06:367
    Chet,

          It sure sounds like you could be a potential BIRD ABUSER!!!!!!!!
    When birds do this, nothing usually comes up, and if something does
    make it to thier mouths, they usually re-eat it. Only once did Samps
    actually give me a gift, and it was a solid piece peanut. When I took
    it from him and pretended I ate it, he was in TOTAL ECSTASY!!!!!!!!!!!
689.4AFFECTION IS GREAT!GRANPA::KSWARTZFri May 15 1992 10:049
    MY BABY AFRICAN GREY (9 MONTHS) MAKES THE MOTION OF TRYING TO
    REGURGITATE (SPELLING) OR SO I THINK IT IS. HE KIND OF GRABS ON TO MY
    LIPS AND SUCKS ON THEM. TENDERLY OF COURSE.. I JUST THOUGHT THAT WAS
    THE SWEETEST KIND OF AFFECTION HE COULD HAVE DONE. I AM A FIRST TIME BIRD
    OWNER SO AM ONLY GUESSING WHAT THIS IS. I NEVER THOUGHT A BIRD COULD
    BE SO AFFECTIONATE AS HE IS. HE AMAZES US EVERY DAY!!

    IN LOVE WITH BOGART. KAREN

689.6Why not rename the bird to Chuck..as in Up-?BUSY::TBUTLERMon May 18 1992 12:246
    	I'm with you Chet! I love my bird but there are limits!!
    And I agree with the previous noter on how affectionate they are
    Cory was hanging on me all weekend...it's time to get his wings
    clipped again.
