I have a 4 year old Yellow Nape Amazon parrot, he is in very good
health. (I want to keep him this way) Can anyone recommend to me
what kind of vitamins I should be giving him. Right now I am giving
him Vionate, a powered vitamin. I have read that Nekton is also very
good. Problem is there are so many. what is considered a very well
balanced diet. He loves poeple food the best.
Any recomendations would be appreciated.
Thanks
Roger

Nekton 'K' is the best all around vitimin IMHO.......
the rest are all for speical purposes.....
Nekton BIO for moulting periods
Nekton E for breeding etc etc etc......
I also have many parrots that enjoy people food......
As for balanced diet.....Pizza and beer seem to work the best! ;^)
My Grey even belches after eating people food....wonder where she
learned that from??????

Is Blairs Super Preen OK for everyday use or is this a specialty
purpose vitimin?
My guys get (and eat) plenty of veggies, rice, and eggs so I only give
them vitimins 2 or 3 times a week. Is this enough? They seem real
healthy. do they need more?

NEKTON-S is really very good. However I use them off and on. I give my
birds a very balanced diet with plenty of fresh veggies, and my large
birds get alot of protein (meat, bones, veggies) and are in excellent
health and feather. I take care of my birds like myself. If you eat
properly from the basic food groups then it isn't necessary to have
vitamins unless you have a deficiency and require them. Your birds
eyes and feathers reveal alot. Keep a close watch on them and if
everything looks good and the bird is peppy then you are doing things
ok.
Remember that vitamins that are mixed into water are only potent
for a short period of time ( a few hours or so). They then lose
most of their potency. So in order for your bird to gain the most
from the vitamins it must drink its water within that timeframe,
so a well balanced diet is most beneficial.
Sounds like you have been taking good care of your nape to this
point.
Best of luck,
Regards,
Denise
