Does anyone know about Cherryhead (red masked) conures?? We purchased 2 - male and female - 7 months old. The owner said they were 7 months old - and could start breeding in about 3 or 4 months. I haven't been able to find out much about this particular conure. Any information would be much appreciated!! Thanks in advance. Dora

Hi Dora, That sounds awfully young to breed these....better to wait at least a couple of years. The young hen might get eggbound unless you are exceptionally diligent about calcium supplements before breeding and get a calcium level blood test done at an avian vets to be sure before you set them up to breed. The young male might exhaust himself and reduce his growth rate because of having to feed the hen while she incubated eggs and then feeding her and chicks. Can you wait awhile? Linda | |||||

Linda, Thanks for the info - Yes we can wait - I am not in a hurry. I was thinking about seperating them for awhile so we could work with them. They are not very tame - and are difficult to work with when together. Thanks again! Dora |
