509.0. ""Penthouse" Cages (Texas) info wanted" by TRNPRC::WERBER (we are NOT amused!) Mon Mar 11 1991 09:44

    Has anyone ever dealt with "Penthouse" Custom Cages and Trees (they're
    in Houston, Texas).

    I would like to get a "tree" for my amazon and they look like they
    have excellent, detailed ones available for around $250 (which includes
    manzita wood, ropes, chains, feeder station with hood, pan). Sound
    like a lot of $$ ? Can anyone comment on their quality?

    Thanks in advance,

    Peggy

509.1Funny you shoud ask about TonyUSHS05::WALZMon Mar 11 1991 13:5918
    Funny you should ask....the owner of Penthouse, Tony Messina, is a
    friend of mine. He constructed my wrought iron aviary and, by the
    way, at the time he was a milkman by trade and made cages on the
    side. You'll kill me for this, but I convinced him that his prices
    were too low for his product, and that he would stay a milk man
    forever unless he got more reasonable.

    Tony is now making cages, gyms, aviaries, full time. He works with
    a little assistance from other guys and his business is booming. He
    is to my knowledge hones, but when he gets busy, he may miss deadlines.

    If you want to do business with him make sure up front when he can
    finish the product. His tree is NEAT: Tony has some great ideas.
    It will last forever since all perches are easily replaced.

    If you do call Tony, tell him Pat Walz said "Hi!"

509.2Thanks a lot Pat!TRNPRC::WERBERwe are NOT amused!Mon Mar 11 1991 17:1112
    Pat,

    Arrrgghhh! The world still needs milkmen! Think of all those poor
    kiddies now who will have to get used to a new milkman because you
    convinced your friend to make big $$ by going into tree/cages full time!

    Actually his work seems (to me) to be the best available through Bird
    Talk. I like the style of what he offers. When I get my tax return
    I'll be ordering a tree, and I'll be sure to say Pat said hi!
