Hi! I have just noticed something new in one of my budgies - I thought I would ask everyone if anyone has ever noticed this in their keets before. He lays down on the perch - and his swing too. What I mean is that his stomach is actually laying on the perch. Not all the time - occasionally. At first I thought he may be ill - but all other signs show him to be his normal spunky self -ie, appetite, droppings, habits. Any ideas? Maybe it is just a new position he has found for himself. Although it worries me that I never saw this before in the two years I have had him. Thanks for any input you can give me. Carol Kernich

Jenny, my red lored does something simular. On the top of her cage are some wooden dowels forming a stand. She will stradle one of the dowels than rests directly on the top of the cage with one leg on each side of it. She's been doing it for years now. Looks kinda like she is sitting down on the dowel. Anyone elses bird sit? ...Ed PS: Jenny also lies on her back, but thats another story. ;') | |||||

JENNY, HI. As a new bird owner, I have been reading a lot of books and in one of them, I read that parakeets will lay on the perch when it wants or is mating. I could be all wrong, but that is what I read. Is your bird a female? Sharon |
