276.0. "Name that Vet" by ADVLSI::LECLAIR () Thu Oct 19 1989 17:16

    Does anyone know of a good avian vet in the Hudson/Marlboro Ma.
    area. I recently purchased a Goffin Cockatoo and I need to have
    her check by a vet to make sure she is in good health.

If you are willing to travel to Littleton, my husband and I take all 8 of
our birds, (large and small) to a vet who specializes in tropical birds and
is, in our opinion, excellent with the birds. It is the Littleton Animal
Hospital, located on King St. in Littleton. The phone number is (508)-486-3101
and the vet to ask for is Dr. Alexandra Kilgore. (There is another Dr. in the
same office, but I have never used him, I prefer Dr. Kilgore and have all the
faith in the world in her). It is fairly hard to find an avian vet at all;
alot of them do not take birds at all.

Good Luck!

276.2Dr. Kilgore in LittletonMEMV02::COMPTONMon Oct 23 1989 13:5812
    We have used the Littleton Animal Clinic for some months now with
    a wide variety of birds. Dr. Kilgore is the one to ask for. The
    other vet will help in a pinch, but Dr. Kilgore is the avian
    specialist. Several of the breeders and shops use her as well
    (e.g. Fish Nook in Acton, Wingsong in Merrimack). They are pricey,
    but worth it. Animal Emergency Care (AEC) in Acton also uses
    Dr. Kilgore for birds. Julie, the lead receptionist at Dr. Kilgore's
    is very knowledgeable to help with screening the severity of the
    problem over the phone with you, and knows when to ask the vets
    for help in deciding whether to encourage you to bring a bird right
    in or schedule a more routine appointment. /Linda

    Littleton Animal Clinic is on Route 2A/110, about one mile west
    of Route 495 (the exit right after the one for Route 2 and before
    the exit for Digital's LKG facility). It's on the left, just
    before a service station...looks like someone's brown contemporary
    shingled house with a cement lawn (the parking lot ;') )/Linda

    I take my birds to Tuffs universisty in Grafton. The vet is Nancy
    Clark that does the birds. I and several friends have been very
    pleased with her service. I know you have already made your
    appointment, but in case you or any one else need to use the service.
    The number for the small hospital for small animals is 508-839-5395.

    A satisfied customer.
