I'm not in your local area, but I have a friend who sells birds
and can probably get you a better price then any of the pet shops
in your area. She can have the bird shipped to you via Continental,
same day, (meaning the bird is put on the plane in the morning and
you pick it up that evening at the nearest major airport).

I've had her order all six of my Lovebird pairs and tommorrow
I will be getting three pairs of African Greys I ordered last week.
I will talk to her tonight and put the price in as a reply.

If you just want a regular bird, meaning one that has come
through the quaranteen station and has been tamed somewhat it
    will cost you $1400.00 .

A Hand fed baby which my dealer says would be a better and more
affectionate pet would cost you $1550.00 . If this interests you
    contact me.

I've dealt with Blue Ribbon Pet Farm in Homestead, Florida.
The pricelist from late march lists Blue & Golds, Young or Young
Adult, for $795. Since then their '89 birds have probably hatched,
so they may have some hand-fed babies available. Their phone #
is 305-248-5544. I bought my Nape from them and have been very
    pleased.

If you're in New England and want to talk to or visit a local breeder
of Blue & Golds, then you may want to check out the Country Exotic
Bird Farm in Gilbertsville, Mass. Although I've never been there,
I have spoken to the owner on the phone and he was really willing
to talk about birds. Their phone # is 413-477-6260.

    Good luck,

How is the quest for the Blue and Gold going? My brother
has a bird farm in Florida, he has in his possion a baby B+G.
Hand fed babies are by far the best birds to get but they cost
big bucks. $1,500 to 1,800. send me mail if you are interested
in a B+G or any other kind of bird.
                                        Cathy

Hi Cathy, nothing yet....we've had some interesting leads for
approximately 700-800 down in Florida for babies. We'll see how
that pans out - of course there's the shipping charges.....
I used to live in Ft. Lauderdale - I miss it.

I would be very interested if you managed to get a B+G for 7-800. I
haven't seen them for less than about 1300 this spring.

Always remember, you get what you pay for. Someone has to spend a lot
of hours handfeeding a Baby macaw for 16 weeks or so...

However, It really IS worth the money to get a hand-fed rather than
either a parent fed or an imported....

I have seen all three kinds, and no matter how much time you spend
after the fact, you never make up the difference....

201.8SECOND CHEER FOR BLUE RIBBONSPGOPS::BOURGAULTFri Aug 11 1989 17:1612
I would also like to recommend Blue Ribbon Pet Farm in Homestead
Florida. I got my Yellow Nape 1 1/2 years ago (he was about
8 months old at the time -Domestic, hand raised) for $675.00 and
was the best investment I ever made. He is jus a joy. As tame
as an amazon can be and smart as a whip! He sings and talks up
a storm. Their prices are terrific and the birds are healthy and
mostly domestic hand raised babies. They take great care of the
birds and it shows in the quality you get. It is tough purchasing
sight unseen, but I doubt very much you will be disappointed in
your bird if you purchase through Blue Ribbon.

    Whatever, best of luck!

In the NE area, MISTY HAVEN BIRD FARM in E.Douglas, MA has great birds
-b&g macaws included. They hand-raise the babies themselves, and
occasionally have adult birds as well. The owners live next door to
the Farm and really love their work. Call them at (508)467-3579.
George or Wayne will give you directions. They're open to showing
you the babies in their incubators too.

It's a nice ride - 40 mins South of Worcester.

    Good luck!!
