JAVA RICE FINCHES I have a pair of Java Rice Finches (Grey male/white female). I was wondering if anyone out there would have tips on breeding. (i.e. size of cage, type of nest, mating season.) I am unable to find much written on these birds. I have had the male for 6 months and just recently purchased the female. They currently reside in the same cage and seem to get along ok, but are not very close. The male seems to dominate the female. No relationship to date. I do not have any form of nest in there as yet. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much, Denise B.

I was looking at the java rice finches, but found they are illegal in Massachusetts..... Was told they were difficult to breed, but have a friend whose pair were sitting on eggs recently. His are in an open aviary (formerly a bedroom) with about 120 other birds. |
