| Oh my GOD! This is awful. Fire is my biggest fear of all, infact
I'm sorta overboard on it. Everything in my house is unplugged
during the day, lights, TV, toaster etc... (except for the big items
like frig etc.) I could just die hearing this. From what I
understand, this guy has small and big birds. I hope we all learn
something from this. My husband and I do monthly checks on our
furnace, electrical outlets etc. I kinda P.O. my husband about
this fire thing but I'm so glad I'm worried about it. I've never
been in a fire nor know anyone that has. I don't know were my fear
came from but its a doozy.
I know this sounds bad but at least the birds probably died from
the smoke, not from being burned which is a little less painful.
Very Sadly,
Karen

107.4 | I feel a terrible loss | BOHR::CASSONE | Dom Cassone MRO4-3/C17 DTN 297-3038 | Tue Jan 31 1989 10:32 | 19 |
| I am in SHOCK!!!!! Al had a wonderful and irreplacable collection of
many, many types of birds from macaws to finchs. He also raised dogs.
This is just horrible! I just cant get rid of this ache in the pit of
my stomach. If there is ANYTHING that my wife and I can do we will.
I just don't know what else to say. Besides the terrible loss of all
the animals, those birds were Al's whole life. Some of us in this
notes conference have differing opinions of Al's methods, but all this
must be put aside for the time being. This man and the bird world in
general has suffered a great loss that can never be replaced. I think
that Jean is doing a wonderful thing and I for one will be calling her
at 5:31 tonight.
I have gotten both my birds from Al and I went to his house many times
just to look at all his birds and to see what new species he had gotten
since my last visit. This is all gone now.
I'm still numb

107.9 | Can I get in touch? | EUREKA::WHITE | DAY-TONER = A place in sunny Flawda | Wed Feb 01 1989 13:47 | 7 |
| Does anyone know how to get in touch with Al these days. I owe him
a lot from our relationship and wanted to extend a room if needed
and someone to talk to about the crisis at hand. Four of those birds
lost were mine, so I share in his loss.
