98.1VERY TAME Eleanora stollen!CSC32::K_WORKMANTTDRIVER/MODEM Tech Leader 4990Tue Mar 13 1990 11:5725
    A 6 month old Sulfer Crested Cockatoo was stolen by 3 high school
    age boys from CONTENTED BIRDS DOMAIN owned and operated by Ilsa
    Goshorn. Ilsa is a very respected bird hobbiest and breeder and
    recently opened up her own store in the Federal Heights area just
    outside of Denver. Apparantly the boys came in, spent some time
    looking around then Ilsa turned her back to answer and question
    from another client and the boys and bird were gone. This baby
    was EXTREMELY friendly. The bird was breed and hand raised by
    Arrowhead Aviaries (Tim and Chris Murphy). Needless to say, we
    are all shocked.

    If you live in the Colorado area, please keep an eye out in Pet
    stores, etc.. for this baby. Ilsa has posted a reward for this
    bird of 100.00 for any information that me lead to its rescue.
    They have gone to high schools in the area and have put adds in
    local papers. These boys have no means of caring for a hand
    fed baby and the bird is at great risk in their care and is also
    of great value. Please spread the word!!! If you think you
    have any information, contact Tim or Chris Murphy at 719-372-3511.

    This bird is closed banded and can be traced to its breeder through
    the Colorado Department of Health. If you suspect you see this
    bird, get the band number and call!

98.2WHITE PIGEON IN OUR BACKYARDCSSE::BLACKBURNTue Aug 04 1992 16:4721
    For the past couple of weeks there has been a beautiful, solid white
    pigeon hanging around in my neighbor's and my backyards (Watertown,
    MA). She (could be a he) has a band on her leg so I know that she
    belongs to someone. We thought that she might be a homing pigeon and
    was just taking a rest but it's been a few weeks now. She can fly so
    I'm pretty sure she's not injured. She appears to be friendly, we
    talk to her and she sits, just out of reach, and cocks her head to
    listen.

    If she is a homing pigeon is it possible that she's lost? How would we
    go about finding the owner? We've been putting food and fresh water
    out for her. Would the constant supply of food make her think twice
    about heading for home? I really would like to find the owner because
    I know what it's like to have a lost pet. And, there are quite a few
    cats in our neighborhood and I would hate for anything to happen to her.

    (You can probably tell from some of my questions that I don't know too
    much about birds!)

    Thanks for any help you can give!

98.3Paper recyclers might hold the answerGERBIL::MAGEETue Aug 04 1992 17:019

    In the Manchester Union Leaders' "Ask Us" column
    a few days ago they had a similar question. They
    printed the name & address of the area homing
    pigeon club that could help. Was anyone smarter
    than me,(I threw it out),and saved it? Or someone
    who holds onto old papers?
