| Linda,
When I first got my 2 cockatiels, they were relatively quiet. Since
I got very busy after I got the birds, just about every week or
two, they were getting shipped off to a different babysitter for
a couple of days. One of the women I used had birds herself, and
whenever Hansel and Gretel came back home from her house, they had
added a couple new words and whistles to their vocabularies.
I'm thinking that adding the talkative male to your untalkative
female would make the femal a bit more talkative.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

| HI ALL! J's BACK!!!
Female cockatiels don't talk! Like the rare blue moon, maybe there
is a rare talking female cockatiel.....however, having a spirited,
talking male around will help the other bird to relax. Give it
a try!

| What about moving him in this cold weather? What kinds of
things should I do so he doesn't get scared, or too cold?

| Thanks all! But back to the question...8^}
You can safely move the bird in this weather by....placing the bird
in a small card board box with air holes. Place the box in an brown
grocery bag, and make sure the car is warm....
Run like mad from the house to the car with the bird....when you
reach your target destination....do the same....
We took a parrot to the Dr. on Monday...and it was so cold, the
doors on the truck were frozen! But Joanne, the bird, did just
fine!

Linda;
I have a male cockatiel. When I got him from the pet store,
the person there told me that females rarely talk and if they do
it's alot of extra training. My male (Sinbad) is now 7 months old
and just beginning to talk. Check with a realible pet store for
further information on female cockatiels. One might pick up from
the other but I would never put them in the same cage unless you
want babies. Also they will entertain each other and ignore you!
