8.0. "Organizations" by UPNRTH::BRIERLEY (To see what few have seen ...) Mon Oct 10 1988 17:57

Most of us probably belong to at least one organization that has
something to do with our interest in this conference. If you
belong to a club or association that others would be interested
in, let us know about it here.

8.1New Hampshire Avicultural SocietyZEKE::HUTCHINSWed Oct 12 1988 14:0716
The New Hampshire Aviculture Societ (NHAS) is a great place to share
stories and experience you have had with birds, it has also been
an excellent learning shelter for my and many other members!

We sponsor Veterinarians have membership drives and a monthly meeting.
I would truly love to sponsor some/all of you and welcome you to
the society! Every meeting is lots of fun, we have very informative
speakers fun and games, we even give you a chance a few times a
year to clean out all those attic treasures at auctions to help
support the society in legislative issues. We send spokespeople
to washington when the need arises!

It's a wonderful organization. It was started 14 years ago by 3
guys with a fancy for canaries and look how it's bloomed!

8.2My Mail Directory Runneth OverZEKE::HUTCHINSFeathered Obsessions AviaryThu Oct 13 1988 13:4634
My mail directory was flooded this morning with questions about
NHAS. I was quite thrilled at the interest!

NHAS meets on the 4th wednesday of every month. We are having an
auction for the October meeting, which is being held at LeFoyer
Hall, on Kinsley St. in Nashua (right down the street from St. Joes
hospital in Nashua). There will be birds and bird related items
    on the tables for bids...

I'm not sure what else to say about us. We buy and sell birds from
each other instead of going to pet stores...We sell home raised
and well fed, healthy birds...not little pitiful guys from over
    crowded cages...

We always plan guest speakers that will interest the whole membership
not just a few people. We have our politicians, but we make every
effort to quell that nonsence right away, but that's common in any
    club I think.

I am currently trying to put together a membership drive...that
has never been done before. We issue an bulletin every month, gee,
    guess who writes that...?

Of all clubs I've been to, joined/visited, my heart belongs to NHAS!
We are a tight hard working organization and we also stay current
with legislative issues regarding birds too! Even tho they are
not in the notes files, there are governments that want birding
    stopped!

Come to a meeting! Check us out, meet some of the members! I
think you'll have a great time!

I belong to the Society of Parrot Breders and Exhibitors (SPBE).
The society publishs a quarterly journal which is full of useful
articles. I am also thinking of joining the a Macaw organization
    (I can't remember the name)
8.4Over at the other side of the pondYARD::STRIJCKER7th in the family and the biggest!Fri Oct 14 1988 10:0714
    Re: All previous notes

I suppose all metioned organisations are located in the States.

Since I live in the United kingdom, they are not a lot of use to
me. I am a member of the Parrot Society. They send out a little
magazine on a monthly basis, which is full of useful information,
like good vets in your area. They also try and help you with any
problem you may have with your bird(s).

If anybody wants to know more about them, I could bring in one magazine
    and find out.

8.5Back over the pond...ZEKE::HUTCHINSFeathered Obsessions AviaryFri Oct 14 1988 14:128
We (NHAS) has many international members, we also have international
judges at the shows which brings a lot of the international members
abroad...yes, this is very inconvenient if you are not "state side".
Most of our international members receive the bulletins and other
publishings and in turn send articles to me that I publish in our
    bulletin.

I went to the 75th Annual Mass. Cage Bird show this weekend and
picked up a membership application for the Mass Cage Bird Assoc.

I will not be joining in that I live too far away, but will send
a copy to anyone interested. They meet in Rayham Mass on the third
Sunday of most months. Raynham is near Taunton. Membership is $9.00
    for a family membership.

The New Hampshire Avicultural Society is having a show tomorrow in
Nashua, NH. Doug Pulsifer posted details and directions elsewhere.

8.12Southeast bird club(Westford)ROYALT::PULSIFERUNHAMPERED BY FACTS AND INFORMATIONTue Apr 20 1993 10:5930
The name of the Club is the Southeast bird Club, I think. It is either
Southeast or southeastern, but I am not sure of the rest of the name.
As far as I know it still meets the first Sunday of each month.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Hi,

I have recently learned of Bird Club that meets regulary in Westford
Mass. It meets the first Sunday of every Month @ 1:00 PM at the TARA
hall, located at the intersection on Rt 225 and Rt 27.

From what I understand they are mostly concerned with outside cage
birds and the atmosphere of the meeting is an auction, where you can
    buy, Peafowl, pheasants, chickens, pigeons.........

This Sunday 3/1/92 is a scheduled meeting, and I am going to try to
attend with my family. Sounds like fun !

    Doug

P.S. I'll repost this when I know the name of the club.

This past Sunday I drove up the Tara Hall in Westford for the
Southeast/Southeastern Bird Club meeting (supposed to take place on the
first Sunday of every month) the hall was empty and for sale. Does
anyone know if this group still meets and if so, where?

I'm looking for breeders/dealer etc... of fancy chickens, ducks/water
    birds etc...

    Thanks,

    Mark
