I've done some research on this problem people are having with the Multia's ethernet card and Windows 95. You can get the DEC 21040 chip ethernet drivers to run the Multia's Ethernet card. However, I'm still not sure on how to get the BNC connector to work. I've done some comparisons on Windows NT controllers to help with the problem. It looks like something is slightly different when the Multia's ethernet card is configured on Windows NT using the "Multia Ethernet Controller" than when using the plain old "DEC ethernet 21040 based controller." It's the same driver, but there are some different setting set before the driver is started. (SIA's) This seems to affect the use of the BNC connector. I'm not sure if this type of setting can be replicated on the Windows 95 system or not. I haven't had the time to research it in full detail. However, there is good news: You can still use the 10-BaseT (Twisted Pair) and 10-Base5 (Thickwire) ports. This means all you need is a DETTR or a DESTA and you can convert to 10-Base2. (It works just fine. (TESTED)) If anyone has anything else to add to this, be my guest. I'm not an authority on any of this, but I am speaking from my own personal experience. Good luck, Eric Dube [email protected] [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

780.1 | BNC works for me... | ZUR01::JAUNIN | www2000: click and dispair | Wed May 28 1997 03:57 | 19 |
My Intel MULTIA is running W95 and connected to Ethernet via BNC (Thinwire). The instructions to get it running I found here (Note 710.6). The main steps: - Install W95 - Add driver DC21x4.DOS - Remove the detected driver - Reboot and make shure that the W95-Kit is _not_ accessible anymore. Otherwise W95 would detect and install the 'wrong' driver again. <cancel> This worked for me. I have been using my MULTIA like this for a long time. If you need to know some of my configuration settings, just let me know. And yes, sound is also not working for me... andre |
