91.0. "Dawsonville, the home of Bill Elliott" by VMSNET::M_MACIOLEK (Four54 Camaro/Only way to fly) Fri Jul 29 1994 01:57

I drove by the Dawsonville Pool Room today. Their sign out front
    said:

Please keep Scott and Casey in your prayers.

    In other news...
I'll be going to the shop again sometime in the near future
(to beg Ernie for a job :^)). Also I have to ask Evie (who runs
    the museum) about some stuff.

I'll see if I can sneak some details

I was wondering that myself...

Wasn't one of them the RR tire changer killed in Atlanta last year or the year
before?

I believe Casey is Bill's nephew or cousin who started running BGN last
year and was going to do the entire schedule this year *until* he had some
problems with, I think, cancer.

Opps, I thought I was in the NASCAR note when I WROTE this.

Casey Elliott is Ernie Elliotts son, and Bill Elliotts nephew. He
    has cancer, again.

Mike Rich was killed in Atlanta while changing the rear tire on
Bill Elliotts car during a pit stop a few years ago.

Mod, feel free to clean this note up, since it pertains to the most
popular form of motorsport (in the US at least) which is handled in
    its own conference. :^)

No problem Mike, I'll leave it here - besides I didn't know where to post the
fact that I saw a 'Dick Simon Trucking' truck at the local Kroger this morning.
Not a race car transporter, just your basic 18 wheeler.

We saw a few of these on our vacation last month, nice looking rigs. Driving
from Colorado Springs to Waverly, NY leaves plenty of time to see such
things :*{ Also drove past Rahal/Hogan shops twice, both times in the wee
hours of the morning.

In fact, it was still there this morning. The 'mascot' they have on the
back and side is a skunk!

Dick Simon's trucks are up and down the west coast too. I see them all
the time here in Washington. I've also seen them in Oregon and
California. I wonder who runs the business for him so he can spend his
time playing with his Indy cars?
