Just to show that I'm not a complete roadracing snob, I'll throw out
this tidbit- this is UNCONFIRMED, but amusing nonetheless.
A friend of mine who runs a motorsports business just a few miles from
Gainesville Raceway in Florida (site of this weekends' Gatornationals)
just told me over the phone that he was at the track buying his event
tickets for the weekend, and heard a PA announcement to the effect
that Kenny Bernstein had just turned a 301+ MPH pass in the early
qualifying rounds (no ET given).
This is unconfirmed- can any of our Florida correspondents in that
area confirm it? It's pretty interesting news, if true...

| I saw part of the Gatornats yesterday on TV. They also mentioned
Bernstein's 301 mph run. Wasn't there some bonus $$ for the first
person to run over 300?
Also, the announcer said that Eddie Hill set a new ET record with
a 4.80 or 4.81.
BTW, Hill beat Bernstein in the finals...Hill with a 4.84, Bernstein
smoked the tires near the start...
