989.0. "Alisha (Elisha) Rose" by POWDML::VENTURA (Kitties-Zero to nuts in 4 secs.) Mon Apr 08 1996 17:58

I'm pregnant with our first child, due September 7th. We've been
bouncing names around for a while now. We're pretty set on the boy's
name. John Paul Ventura. Everyone likes it. The girl's name is a bit
of a problem. We kind of like Alisha (or Elisha) Rose Ventura, but my
side of the family can't stand it!! My husband's side didn't really
say anything about the name, but then again, everyone on that side is
    PRAYING for a boy.

So... tell me.. what do YOU think of the name? We're definitely stuck
on the middle name Rose. It's my husband's grandmother's name. any
other ideas for a name to go with Rose?? Or do you like Alisha or
    Elisha Rose??

    Thanks.

Alisha can also be spelled Alicia... it sounds ok... You could shorten
it to Alice Rose Ventura.... or another old-fashioned combination that
sounds nice is Marguerite Rose... Just a thought... my daughter and I
are also looking for girl's names that don't have nicknames... she is
    due in June....

One thing I forgot to mention is the pronunciation we have found we
like. We like a short I instead of the long I.

Carol. Thanks for the comment. However, neither my husband nor I care
for the old fashioned names. We'd like something a LITTLE different,
but not completely out of the ordinary.

Keep those suggestions coming! Any girl's name that will go with Rose
    Ventura.

I like it! But then I named my daughter Alena Nicole (the len is pronounced the
same as it is in lend).

We also debated over the first letter as A or E and picked A to be alittle
different.

Ok... I'm getting to a point where I don't care for the name "alysha".
I still want to keep "Rose" as a middle name, but we're stumped for a
    first name.

We want something different, not too common, but not "yuppy" either, if
    you know what I mean.

    Any suggestions??

Well.. our baby girl was born on September 17, 1996 at a whopping 9
lbs, 7 oz. We did name her Alycia Rose, with y sounding like the i in
    melissa.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Alycia is a beautiful little
baby, and a joy to be around. I can't imagine my life without her now.
