Hi, We are expecting our first in October and having quite the difficult time picking names. We want something that isn't "in" right now but sounds good with our last name. We also want to stay away from names that are already in the immediate family and friends which limits our choices too. Anyone have any ideas for boys and girls names to go with Hederstedt (pronounced head-er-stead) For boys we had thought of Connor and Colin but they are becoming popular now. For girls we had thought of Victoria Elizabeth (Tori Beth) but that gets kind of long with our last name (did you have to learn the alphabet to spell your name? ;o) We'd appreciate any help! Lisa and Wayne

Hi,
Unfortunately I'd have to say that if you don't want an "in" name,
you should probably stay away from the names (Connor, Colin, and
Victoria/Tori) you mentioned in the base note though they're all
very nice. I believe that all of those names are quite popular
at present; I judge this by personally knowing 2 or more children
with each of those names.
I would recommend keeping the first name somewhat simple with your
surname (I know *first hand* how hard this can be 8^). One or two
syllable names seem to flow the best in my opinion.
I think Neil Hederstedt sounds EXCELLENT for a boy; is kind of unique
but not too heavy with your last name - I also like Jeffrey, Daniel,
William, Chad, and Todd.
For girls names, I like the Beth that you suggested but as a first
name. I actually think Lisa sounds great with the last name; so
tried to think of something with a similar sound - how about Laura
or Lindsay?

Carol,
Thanks! I like the names Neil and Chad. Unfortunately, Jeffrey, Daniel
and William are already names in the family and friends category that we
are trying to stay away from ;o( I tried to convince Wayne if it's a
boy to name it William Dean (after both fathers) but he doesn't like that.
I knew from watching the announcements in parenting and on the WWW that
Colin and Connor were popular but I hadn't heard Victoria/Tori. Thanks
for verifying that it too was becoming popular.
For girls, I like Lindsay and Beth (hadn't thought about making it
a first name). Laura is out due to family and friends. What would
Lindsay be likely to be nicknamed/shorted to though the only thing I
can think of is Lin (lynn)?

I like the girl's name Olivia (but then again, that's one of the names
we are considering). But seriously...Olivia Hederstedt sounds nice.
For a boy...
Jacob
Joshua
Jordan (girl or boy)

Good luck!

| 987.5 | Need Swedish names | LAYSYN::HEDERSTEDT | Lisa... | Tue Jul 09 1996 15:04 | 16 |
We had a boy and we chose Anders William Now we are expecting #2 and this time we would like to try to stay with a Swedish first name as we did with Anders. The names we are considering are Conrad for a boy and Camilla for a girl. We are definitely not set on these and don't have middle names at all. We are also not sure Conrad is Swedish? Thanks for any help on names. | |||||
