I need help trying to find names to go with my last name: Raissipour
(pronounced: Rah-ees-ee-pour with pour rhyming with lure). My husband
is Iranian and I'm American (my maiden name was Carpenter - it was so
much simpler - but it's nice to have an uncommon last name).
Husband's name:
Abbas (name given to him at birth) Shahram (his persian nick name) David
(his American name - this is what I call him) Raissipour. He does not
have a middle name. Basically he goes by David Raissipour.
My name:
Holly Margaret Raissipour
We are due with our first child on 1/25/95. Only six more months to
go. We have chosen a few names that we like but would also like any
suggestions:
GIRL:
We would really like to use Hannah as her middle name. It's my great
grandmother's first name and my mother's middle name. It is also
persian in origin (although most baby books say otherwise).
Sarabeth - First name although I like the spelling of Sara as Sarah but
I think that's too long and I think with the middle name of Hannah that
would be way too long.
Elizabeth - My husband really likes it - it's okay to me but I really
don't care for the nick name Liz.
BOYS:
We like Nicholas as a first name but can't agree on a middle name. He
likes Alexander (his brother's Americanized first name) but I think
Nicholas Alexander Raissipour would be an awfully long name.
I like Cameron or Kamron - actually a persian name for his middle name.
Any and all ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Holly (no I wasn't born around Christmas - born in June)

Hi Holly,
I think Elizabeth Hannah sounds fine with Raissipour. As far as not
liking "Liz" as a nickname, Elizabeth has many nicknames. Maybe you
would be happier with another:
Liz Lizzie
Beth Betty
Personnally, I think Beth Raissipour sounds really good.
For a boys name,
Nicholas Alexander reminds me of the Russian czar. How about
Nicholas Daniel
Nicholas Arthur
Nicholas William
Best of luck.

I kind of like the name Elizabeth Raissipour.
I do not like Liz either, but I've always been partial to Beth.

Holly, I like something shorter with such a long last name, such as: Amy Hannah Raissipour Jane Hannah Raissipour Betsy Hannah Raissipour Julie Hannah Raissipour Rachel Hannah Raissipour Hannah Elizabeth Raissipour (I like the sound of "--a" names with R.) Dena Beth Raissipour or Adam Alexander Raissipour Nathan James Raissipour John Kamron Raissipour Chad Alexander Raissipour Luke Alexander Raissipour Kyle Alexander Raissipour Good luck in the search! -Cori | |||||
| 954.5 | How about Scott or Joseph? | NEST::MEDIARSP | Fri Aug 19 1994 08:42 | 16 | |
Thanks for all the suggestions Chris, Beth and Cori! We'll keep those
in mind. Like I said in the base note, if the baby is a boy we'd like
his first name to be Nicholas (his middle name does not necessarily
have to be Alexander).
What do you think of Nicholas Scott Raissipour or Nicholas Joseph
Raissipour. Scott and Joseph are both names of friends of mine that
have died - do you think that's too morbid. I think some memory would
be nice.
We still like Hannah for a girl's name, either first or middle. We
still have ~23 weeks left to decide.
Thanks again for all the input.
Holly
