935.0. "Kiera . . . Any leads?!" by NWTIMA::OLSENCI () Fri Mar 11 1994 18:46

I am interested in finding out any information on the name Kiera.
It is the name we chose for our daughter. We found her name in
note 403.8 of this database of all places after the weekend retreat
to the Islands with 12 babynaming books produced nothing.

Since her birth in August, I have searched for anything I could find
on it but, have come up with nothing.

I have in the meantime decided to apply my own meaning to her name
Mom's decided it means "beautiful heart." Dad on the other hand
decided it her name means "Sun." We can't lose here..."sunny, beautiful
heart" or "beautiful, sunny heart"! I suppose no matter what we
come up with or don't come up with it makes for another chapter in
    her name selection.
if you will. Mom's decided it means "b

Here's a pointer to a book you mind be able to find Kiera in:

"The Melting Pot Book of Baby Names"
Ellefson, Connie Lockhart (2nd edition)
ISBN 1-55870-178-8: $8.95
CS2375.U6E44 1990
929.4'0973--dc20

The book is organized by country/culture and the author researched with
immigrants, foreign students, etc. to find the most popular names in each
locale. I've never seen a name book organized like this, and being the
name fanatic that I am, I just had to check it out when I found it at the
library.

Good luck finding it!

    Hi,
I could be way off on this, but wasn't Kiera one of the Muses?
There was a movie with Olivia Newton-John and as I recall her
name was Kiera and she was supposed to be a Muse reincarnated
(as an adult) in modern times. It was one of those movies that
could never happen in real life, and I remember a lot of roller
skating and singing. If someone else can confirm this, maybe
you could check up on the Greek Muses. They were (according to
the dictionary) any of nine daughters of Mnemosyne and Zeus, each
of whom presided over a different art or science.
