926.0. "Boys name to go with McGeehan" by DKAS::MCGEEHAN () Mon Jan 24 1994 13:16

    Can anyone help us come up with a boys name (both first &
    middle?) We're expecting #3 in early August & already have two boys:
    Robert Thomas and Seth Conor.

    The problem for us is that we both come from very large families,
    dominated by *a lot* of males, so there already is a number of
    duplicates. We've had a girls name picked out all along (Meghan
    Kylie), but haven't had a chance to use it yet! 8-).

    I personally like the sounds of many names of Celtic/Irish origin, but
    can't come up with a likely combination (some names I associate with
    people I'd rather not remember, etc). At this point, however, we're
    open to any ideas, so if any of you have some, please post them.

    Thanks,

926.1here's a fewSTUDIO::POIRIERMon Jan 24 1994 13:5611

    Sean Robert McGeehan
    Ian Garrett McGeehan
    Garrett Michael McGeehan
    Patrick John McGeehan

    Just a few that come to mind.

    Youve got a good surname to use, could you mention those you have ruled
    out?

    re: -.1:

    It's not that we've necessarily ruled any out, just that some are a bit
    overused in the family.  Examples:

    For first names: Thomas, Daniel (although I'd still like this one, but
    my husband's not too crazy about it), John.

    There are some first cousins that all our kids will be very close to,
    and their names are: Sean, Christopher, Michael and Tommy

    I kind of like Patrick John or Daniel John, since my father's name is
    John (and so's one of my brothers), and it would be nice to use his
    name as a middle name. I've always loved the name Sean & my husband
    does too, but we're just not sure about "re-using" a name with a close
    young relative also having it too.

    Thanks for the ideas though - keep 'em coming!

Linda,

Some more ideas for you:

	Shane Daniel McGeehan (close to Sean, but different)
	Eric John McGeehan
	Gordon John McGeehan
	Colin John McGeehan
	Timothy John McGeehan
	Bradley John McGeehan
	Bryce David McGeehan
	Paul Brian McGeehan

I also like the previously suggested Garrett and Patrick. Lots of things
sound good with such a great, Irish last name! Best of luck to you deciding.

    Best of luck to you.

    Linda,

    What about Daniel John (DJ)?
    or, Griffin Michael, Michael Patrick, Kevin John???

    I had selected Connor Douglas and Sean Robert for boys (love those
    Irish names)

926.7Hadn't thought about GriffinDKAS::MCGEEHANWed Jan 26 1994 09:1810
    Thanks for the feedback! Keep it coming...I hadn't thought of the
    name Griffin - that has kind of a nice sound to it. My husband Bob
    likes the name Kevin too -- his older brother's name is Kevin though,
    so they'd both end up with the same name "Kevin McGeehan".

    We have a ways to go, so we're keeping tabs on all the options.

    Thanks again for the ideas.

    Since you like Kevin, how about Kenneth? It is close but still
    different.

926.9Couple more...AMCUCS::MEHRINGWed Jan 26 1994 17:4810
Or, how about:

	Brendan John McGeehan
	Jeffrey Daniel McGeehan

I like Griffin, too, but it doesn't seem to "match" as well with Robert and
Seth (just my opinion, though).

Best of luck,
-Cori
926.10How about Declan? RTOEU::KRICKSMon Jan 31 1994 09:075

                doesn't get easier as you get closer!!) heeeee..

926.12Joshua Ryder McGeehanDKAS::MCGEEHANMon Feb 28 1994 13:0619
    Well, barring any changes of mind, we think we've come up with a
    name we both can agree on --

    Joshua Ryder McGeehan

    We both like the name Joshua & don't mind Josh if others call him that.
    But we were still having trouble with agreeing on an Irish (or even
    "right" sounding) name (at least right to us) 8-)

    Then I thought of my Irish grandmother -- her maiden name is Ryder.
    I thought her name might be interesting since I have heard it used as a
    given name before. She's also been doing so poorly these past two years,
    we think it will cheer her to hear that her name is being used.

    Thanks again to everyone for helping! (Feel free to keep adding --
    we still have a ways to go & you never know what a pregnant woman
    will change her mind on!)

    Linda
