| Christina,
even though you may not connect Hillary with Mrs.President, a lot of
other people will, so if you decide on it, be forwarned that there will
be plenty of people who think you got the idea from the Clintons.
(what's more is that there may be other people who DO think that the
1st lady's name is wonderful and will name their daughter Hillary.
Monica
P.S. I've kind of liked this one for sometime as well.

| I like the name, but have always preferred the spelling with one "l":
Hilary.
For some reason, I just think it looks better with one "l."
Just an idea.

| Also, I very briefly thought of naming my daughter Hilary, when I was
pregnant. Very briefly, because I decided I just couldn't do that to a
kid: Hilary St.Hilaire :-)

| Lorna, That would have been a mouthful! Hilary St. Hilaire!! Very
nice if St. Hilaire were your maiden name though! :)
Monica, You are right, my mother's name is Shirley, and yes - she was
born in the SHirley Temple ara just like every other SHirley who are in
their 50/60's. SO Hilary will most likely become VERY popular. My
husband voted against it just for that reason also. Well, I wasn't
set on it either, it was just one of those names in my head. I do
like Jillian still (pronounced Jil-lee-an NOT JILLION), and am still
thinking of others.
Well, MONICA is very NICE too!!! Monica Phelan .....
humm, sounds good, we'll see!
Have a good one!

My dad's name is Hilary. My grandmother is from England and
in England, Hilary with one "L" is male and two "LL's" is
female. Back then, a lot of people named their child (we are
Catholic) after the saint that shared their birthday. My
dad was born on St. Hilary's Day so that's why they named him
Hilary. If I had a little girl, her middle name would have
been Hillary. But I've been blessed with 2 boys!
FWIW, we call my dad "Bud". ;-)

Re: Chris, I noticed the similarity in our last name too! I like your
son's names. My husband Ed, now likes (for boys):
Patrick Edward, Michael Edward, James Edward,
I like those and also Gary Edward, Gregory Edward,
For girls: we really don't have a list going yet, he mentioned
Amanda Christina, Amanda Leigh, Diana Rose, Shaina .... but nothing is
really striking yet. Same thing happened when I had our son! We had
our boys name pretty well set and still were not sure at all on a name
for a girl. I had a boy, so we didn't need to worry. Maybe this is a
sign!

907.10 | How about these... | BUSY::KVILLANI | | Wed Oct 27 1993 11:47 | 15 |
| I love the name Vincent! And it would sound good Vincent Edward
Phelan. Not too many of those, I don't think. I also like the
name Anthony. Also Vincent Alexander Phelan, Vincent Daniel Phelan,
even Daniel Mark Phelan.
For girls, I knew a Shelley Phelan. I don't know her middle name. But,
I like the sound of Shelley Louise Phelan, Shelley Elizabeth Phelan.
Also my cousins name is Shelby, and one is Ashley.
Ashley Marie Phelan, Ashley Elizabeth Phelan, Ashley Rose Phelan (or
Rosemarie).
just my two-cents :)

| Hubi is not to keen on Vincent Phelan, I doo like Ashley Phelan, but it is
rather common in my parts. For a boy we are still happy with
James Edward Phelan, but a name for a daughter is still in the thinking
process. Tara is still in there along with Michelle.... but we'll
see. Gina? Maria?
Thanks and keep the ideas coming. Feb. 27th is getting closer!

I love the name Tara, I think it's so pretty.
Well, I might as well write down what my girls names where since
I probably will never have one :) I was planning on having
the middle name Hillary but I did have other names too:
Meghan Elizabeth
Lindsay Olivia
Jessica Lynne
My nieces names (since Pelland sounds like your last name) are:
Cassandra Lee (love this name)
Kaleigh Isabella
I may try for a 3rd (can't believe i'm saying this!) and I'll
probably have another boy. If it is we're going to name him
Jonathan Michael. I love the name Michael too! So many names!
Good luck! (p.s. My son was born on Feb. 28th! Boy we have a lot
in common! My middle name is Marie and all the Christine's I
know have the same middle name!).

907.13 | Tara is still in there with Jillian | MPGS::PHELAN | | Mon Dec 13 1993 14:43 | 21 |
| Chris,
I can't believe this, Cassandra was one of our choices if my son we're
a girl along with Caleigh!!! My Mom's maiden name is Gailey so is was
to be sort of after her, maybe spelt Cailey. Cassandra Mary was in
there to, but we were not definate on any!! Mary for a middle name
because that is my Hubi's mother's name and the baby was on it's way
and was born on her birthday (8/11/92) (THat was the only thing we were
sure of if Eric were a girl, was the middle name) But, we had our
wonderful son who is now 16 months old!
Lindsay is on our list too. Cassandra Phelan, wonder is Ed wants to
put that on the list this time around too? We'd call her Cassi once in
awile. Hummmmmmm
decisions decisions!!
Keep you posted and Have a WONDERFUL HOLIDAY everyone!!!

| Earlier in this note, someone suggested that in England
Hilary with one l is male
with two is female
Sorry ... but wrong ... both forms are used for male and female.
And if anything, I know of more male 'll' than male 'l' Hilary's
We liked the name that our second was called Hilary (long before
Mrs. C. came on the scene. There should actually be another
note on Hilary somewhere in here.
Lorna, I like the idea of Hilary St. Hilaire. ! Rather like
John St. Jean!
There is a hill , actually a 'mountainlet' if you will, just east of
Montreal on the south side of the St. Lawrence called Mont St. Hilaire.
We called it Hilary's mountain for our daughter ... she thinks it's
neat to have a mountain as a namesake! It's kind of unique because
it suddenly appears almost out of nowhere in the St. Lawrence
river plain. Really quite neat.
