861.0. "Grace/Grayce" by CSOA1::KOBILARCSIK () Thu Feb 11 1993 10:07

    I couldn't find this name in here, so if it is, please forgive and
    point me to the note.

    I've always loved this name, my aunt spells hers Grayce and we've
    always called her Gracie. I like Gracie as well as Grace so nicknames
    won't bother me.

    Problem is, my husband hates this name for one reason, it reminds him
    of a little old lady! (regardless of my aunt who's only in her 50s).
    How do I dispell his association and get him to like it!

    And does anyone know the meaning of the name?

    thanks!

861.1Meaning of Grace~graceAMCUCS::MEHRINGThu Feb 11 1993 12:3313
Meaning:	God's Blessing (not surprising!)
Derivation:	English

I also think this is a very pretty name - solid, traditional, yet still
feminine and uncommon.

Is your husband a Susan Dey fan? She played Grace Van Owen on L.A. law,
and I wouldn't think she appears at all "old", so perhaps that could help
change his perception of the name...

Good luck,
-Cori

    Another famous "Grace" was Grace Kelley. When I think of her, I
    remember the movies she made as a young starlet. She was a very
    beautiful, feminine, vibrant person.

    It doesn't look like I'm going to convince him of Grace. He said only
    as a middle name. I want Rose as a middle name though. Well, this is
    the only name he really really objects to, so I guess I won't push
    anymore...

    Hi Loreen,

    Do you plan to switch the names then? Rosemarie Grace Kobilarcsik
    sounds pretty. Rose Grace Kobilarcsik sounds a little choppy, but
    is still pretty.

861.5Rose, Mary, BriannaCSOA1::KOBILARCSIKMon Mar 29 1993 12:3121
    I have consider using Rose as a first name. I also like the name Mary.
    Rosemarie is my godmother's name, she goes by Rose, my middle name is
    Rose and my Mother-in-laws name is Mary.

    Last time I was pregnant, I had Brianna or Bria picked out if it was
    a girl and I still go back to that once in a while.

    Rose Mary Kobilarcsik
    Mary Rose Kobilarcsik
    Mary Grace Kobilarcsik (sounds too much like a prayer????)
    Rose Grace ... is too choppy I agree.
    Brianna Rose Kobilarcsik
    Bria Rose Kobilarcsik

    .... I'll probably be finding out the sex in the next couple weeks so I
    will be able to concentrate more on names then. I have a feeling it's
    a girl which is why I haven't even thought of boys names yet!

    Do you think Brianna is too much with Kobilarcsik?

    Hi Loreen,

    I think Brianna sounds find with Kobilarcsik. Rose and Mary would
    work as middle names as well as teamed up:

    Brianna Rose Kobilarcsik
    Brianna Mary Kobilarcsik - Brianna Marie Kobilarcsik sounds better
    Brianna Rosemary Kobilarcsik

    Now we're trying to decide on the spelling of Brianna or Briana. I'd
    prefer less letters but can't decide if people would be more opt to
    pronounce it correctly if it's spelled Brianna rather than Briana...
