850.0. "Nickname for Jeffery" by MARVA1::MILES () Tue Jan 12 1993 15:47

    Hi,
We are due in May with our second child. We are having difficulty
agreeing on boys names (we have an easier time with girls name). He wants
a junior if it is a boy. I don't. However, it will be easier to
compromise (sp?) if we can come up with a suitable nickname. My
husband's name is Jeffery Louis Miles. I already have nephew with a
nickname of Jay. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Michelle & Jeffery

I guess the two obvious nicknames would be "JL" and Jeff. There is
a neighbor's boy called "LJ" and it make a good nickname for him.
His dad is Larry, his older sister is Laura, and he is Larry, too.
So they decided in LJ, and it works just fine.

I have also heard people using the middle name in the case of dad/son
same names. In that case, Lou would be the nickname.

What is your husband called? That will have some influence on it, too.

How about one of these:

	"Jeffey"
"J.J." (for just J. or Jeff Jr.)
	"J.T." (for Jeff Two)
	"J R" (for junior/Jr.)
"J-Louis" (for J. Louis, but sounds like the comedian/actor)

Or, you could just wait until you get to know him a bit and you're bound
to come up with something that fits - but be careful because it could be
with him for a long time (i.e. Tipper Gore was nicknamed such at 1yr and
it stuck).

Good luck,
-Cori
