| With such a nice german surname it would be neat to have a name that is
both german-ie and also would be okay in the Status. How about:
Michael Wasserman
Thomas Wasserman
Andreas Wasserman (Andy)
Maximilian Wasserman (Max)
Klaus ---> just kidding ;}
Then of course there is Manfred, Olaf, Fritz, Wolfgang, Ulrich all
names that surprisingly are very popular here.

| Thanks for the suggestions so far. Would it be OK if I added a couple
more "conditions"?? Yes, Wasserman is a German name, but our family
background is Eastern European Jewish. We would rather not use a name
that sounds overly non-Jewish. It's hard kind of to define exactly what
that is, but we'll know it when we see it :-)

801.8 | Don't rule out a long name... | MR4DEC::DONCHIN | | Tue Jun 30 1992 11:44 | 16 |
| Deb-
I agree that Wasserman is a long last name, but I think I'd pick a first
name of any length as long as it didn't end in an "n" (I like the fact
that Marc's name--ending in a "c"--clearly separates his first and last
names). Some of the suggestions made so far (Daniel and Michael, in
particular) are great--and they are both traditional. Some less
traditional suggestions are Max, Cory, Scott (my husband's
brother-in-law is named Scott Wassel), and Neil (or Neal). By the way,
do you plan to name the baby after anyone in English, Hebrew, or both?
That might make it easier to find a name.
Out of curiousity, what are your girl names and when is the baby due?
Good luck!
Nancy (mother of Jamie Michelle and Matthew Jacob)

801.9 | Names, names, and more names! | WILBRY::WASSERMAN | Deb Wasserman, DTN 264-1863 | Tue Jun 30 1992 13:24 | 15 |
| Well, we're definitely naming the baby after certain relatives in
either case. For a girl, the initials will be L. E. We haven't
decided definitely on anything, but Laura, Linda, and Lynn are all
nice (and didn't evoke any yucks from my husband!). The middle name
isn't too important, we'll think of something. For a boy, the first
name "should" start with H or C (although there really is no requirement
that the Hebrew name "match" the English name), but since there aren't
_any_ names we both like with those letters, we're considering anything
for a boy.
With our first child, we definitely wanted something starting with M,
and it still took me until the ride to the hospital to get my husband
to agree on Marc :-) I think any other "M" names are out.
The due date isn't 'til February, so we've got plenty of time.

801.10 | Here are two names of Wasserman kids in Maryland | MR4DEC::DONCHIN | | Wed Jul 01 1992 12:19 | 17 |
| Deb-
I forgot to mention in my earlier reply that a family friend married a
Wasserman and they have two kids: Lindsey (girl) and Jared (I love both
names, but my husband didn't when I proposed them for our kids). Both kids
have the mother's maiden name as a middle name (Sterling) and I think it
works well. Maybe you could use your maiden name the same way.
You shouldn't have any problem finding an "L" name for a girl (should
you choose to name the baby both in Hebrew and English with that
letter), but I agree that "H" for a boy's name might be trickier (I
can't think of any names but Howard, Harry, Harold, or Hunter--and none
of them thrill me).
Again, good luck!

801.13 | Chad, Charles, Craig? | CNTROL::STOLICNY | | Thu Jul 16 1992 16:58 | 17 |

I think there's some nice possibilities for a boys' name beginning
in "C", but do agree that there isn't much in the way of "H"
names. Sticking to single syllable (because of the long last
name and to complement Marc), how about?:
Chad, Charles, Chase, Chet, Clark, Cliff, Clint, Curt, Craig
I like them all except for Chase - too s-ey with Wasserman.
My favorites are Chad Wasserman or Craig Wasserman. For "H",
the only names I could add would be: Hugh, Hunter, or Hyatt, none
of which "grab" me.
Girls "L": Laura, Lara, Liza, Lee, Leah, Lynn all are nice.
Laura Elizabeth or Laura Elaine sound pretty good!

801.17 | Strategy change! | WILBRY::WASSERMAN | Deb Wasserman, DTN 264-1863 | Thu Jul 30 1992 14:09 | 17 |
| We've had a slight change in strategy :-) We're going to switch the
girl's initials back to be E.L. Wasserman (our original idea from
last time around). We had picked Emma last time, but I'm not sure
that's my favorite anymore. I still like Elizabeth, even though it's
pretty long.
Boys names are still up in the air, although we've decided to use an
M-name for a middle name. I really like Scott. How about Scott
Michael Wasserman ?? Not too bad.
Funny story.... Marc is named after my husband's two grandfathers. He
was much closer to his grandfather Morris, which is why we chose the M
for the first name. One day he says, "how about if we switch the boys
initials". I was surprised, but started to say... "well, it's your
grandfathers so I guess it's up to you...", but then I see the dimples
starting to spread... "then his initials could be BMW, just like the
motorcycle!!"

801.19 | Getting close to a decision | WILBRY::WASSERMAN | Deb Wasserman, DTN 264-1863 | Wed Sep 30 1992 11:09 | 4 |
| Well, I think we've almost settled on a boy's name (after all this, we'll
probably have a girl :-)). We're currently thinking of Philip or Peter
for a first name, and Michael or Mitchell for a middle name. So,
probably Philip Michael is the front-runner at this point.
