Hi - Not really in a hurry here, just reached the half way point. However, my husband and I have been unable to come up with names for our upcoming arrival in September. I never wanted really common names, but it seems that is all we tend to keep coming up with. We have 2 books full of names, but I never seem to get past the A's. We love the name Lauren, but, (being new to the baby seen) I didn't realize it was the 8th most popular girls name for the 90's. Also, a few people have told me it doesn't go with our last name, Cahaly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! (The only names I've ruled out are those that start with C or K, and those which end in "ly".) thanks alot, Eloise

Personally, I don't think that the name Lauren is all THAT popular at this very moment, and I wouldn't listen to the people that think that Lauren doesn't "go" with Cahaly - I think that "Lauren Cahaly" sounds lovely. But, for an original variation of the name, how about Laurelyn? The "h" in "Cahaly" keeps the whole name from being too "L-ly". This way, you have the name you like, and STILL be original! According to a babyname book put out by Consumer Guide, "Lauren" was the 12th most popular name given to baby girls in 1989. If the book results haven't been published in here yet, I'll post them in a separate note when I get a chance. Brian | |||||
