768.1 | Tanya/Leah or Chad/Todd??? | TIPTOE::STOLICNY | | Wed Feb 26 1992 10:17 | 21 |
| Well, let's hope that they change their minds a few times in the
seven months!! I'm with Grandma on this one!
My babynames book doesn't even list Faisan as a name. Callista is
Greek for "most beautiful"....it's not a _bad_ name, just a bit
much with the last name. Maybe Calla or Kayla as a compromise?
Kayla Michalewicz could be a bit much. I've always been partial to the
name Tanya and think it sounds nice with the last name and is kinda
uncommon as well. Other ideas are: Tia, Renee, Alicia, Janelle, Leah.
For a boy, I (and the majority, I think) tend to be more conservative.
For the somewhat unusual, I'd recommend: Luke, Chad, Eli, Todd,
Quinn, Hunter, Philip. I think one or two syllables fit best
with Michalewicz.
Good luck. Oftentimes, people tend to get more conservative in
their name selections as the pregnancy progresses and they start
to think more about the child and how a name might impact his/her
life.

| I have to agree with Grandma, too. I don't care for either name.
When I read Callistra, I thought of Cassandra. Cassandra Michalewics
seems to be a good match. But with such a long last night, I would
think a short one or two syllable first name would be best.
Names that come to mind:
Tate
Rhett
Scott
Brandon
Lance
Glen
Paige
Amanda
Anne
Celeste
Jill (Jillian)
Haley
Best of luck to all,
Chris

I like the one syllable myself. Thanks for the ideas. Keep them
coming. The child is going to have to live with this.

768.4 | A whole group of unique "names" | KYOA::CHANG | | Wed Mar 25 1992 08:50 | 20 |

This morning on the news, there was an announcer called Rock... It
occurred to me that there are a whole group of "names" that aren't
traditional names at all. Some of them have become very popular
(Rock, Brook), and some not. In this category:
Storm Rock
River Field
Blossom China
Brook Moon
Asia
I wonder if names such as the above would be of interest? They are
certainly unique. They are also short - and would sound fine with
a long last name.
Just a thought.

| A good idea. I will pass them on. Faisan has passed on...Thank
goodness.

Faisan was a name (of a russian or german) person in
"General Hospital". He was not the kind of guy you'd want for a
neighbor!

| I think she has settled on Jason Thomas for a boy. I can live with
that. Now if I can only replace Callista. Her sisters are working
real hard on replacing it.

That's a great choice for a boy (of course, I'm partial to the name)!
If she goes with Callista, maybe she'll be called Callie as a
nickname and that's not too bad. Has your daughter really tried
out the first and last name togetherr? Callista Michalewicz is
quite a tongue-twister - pray the child doesn't have a lisp!

| Well the crisis has passed. The last ultrasound revealed a girl and
the parents have decided on Devin, with which I can live. Thanks for
all you help and thoughts.
