    Hello,
    
    We have still not finalized the name for our baby, due on the 2nd
    March. We have a couple of options, but would really appreciate some
    input! 
    
    For a boy (which everyone thinks is what I'm having!), we are currently
    keen on Micheal. But this seems to be a popular name, and we don't
    really like the shortened versions of it.
    
    For a girl, we like Lisa. And can't agree on any others!
    
    As you can see the surname is Berkoff.

    If you like Michael for a boy why not Michelle for a girl?  
    
    By the way, I think Michael has been one of the top 3 names for the
    last 30 years (or so says my husband whose name is Michael!).

    Hi Andrea,
    
    I really like Michael and Lisa.  As far as nicknames, I have heard
    children use only their full names and not opt for nicknames.  I
    recently mentioned friends whose son is James.  He introduces himself
    as James and no one shortens it to Jim, Jimmie, etc.  But that depends
    on how you call him and what he prefers.
    
    Are you looking for middle names or more first names?  I wasn't
    certain from your note.

    Hi Andrea,
    
    I like the name Michael.   However, I think that you should accept 
    the nicknames that go with it -  your child will invariably be
    called them sometime in his life.  (Mike in particular).  FWIW, I 
    think that Mike Berkoff is a bit "harsh".   How about Michael for 
    the middle name.   In my opinion, Andrew Michael Berkoff (Andrew 
    Berkoff or Andy Berkoff) sounds great!   Other ideas:
         
    Thomas Michael Berkoff
    Adam Michael Berkoff
    Stephen Michael Berkoff
    Jesse David Berkoff
    
    Lisa is a super choice!   An easily recognizable name but not over-used
    in this generation; also "soft" to balance Berkoff.  Michelle would
    make a great middle name for it - Lisa Michelle Berkoff.  Here's a few
    other ideas:
    
    Amanda Jane Berkoff
    Alicia Rose Berkoff
    Melissa Rae Berkoff

    We really like Lisa Michelle Berkoff for a girl. My husband's name is
    David, so we also like Michael David Berkoff for a boy. However we
    agree with the last noter that Mike Berkoff could be a somewhat harsh.
    So, anymore ideas for boys?

    Hi Andrea-
    
    I really like the name Michael Berkoff, but if you are at all concerned
    about the use of nicknames, you should probably find a different name.
    We ended up naming our son (born last year) Matthew (probably as
    popular as Michael), and although I thought I'd always call him that, I
    usually end up calling him Matt or Matty. I don't know if you would
    consider using Michael as a middle name, but some suggestions that I like
    that way are:
    
    Jared Michael Berkoff
    Adam Michael Berkoff
    Jordan Michael Berkoff
    Jason Michael Berkoff
    Scott Michael Berkoff
    
    BTW, I *love* Lisa Michelle (our daughter is a Jamie Michelle).
