762.1 | Olivia or Victoria? | TIPTOE::STOLICNY | | Wed Jan 29 1992 16:45 | 9 |

My immediate thought for a girls name would be Olivia - it's "strong"
and you might like it since you like Oliver for a boy. I also
like Victoria, Alexandra, and Natalie for a baby girl Diaz.
Sorry, I don't care for Batholomew and *really* don't like the
nick name "Tholie".

Jacqueline on my list though, it's a "J").

How about Lauren for a girl? "Lauren Diaz" has a lovely ring to it.

| re:-1 Thanks for the suggestion of Lauren, but it's already used in our
extended family.
I think I wore my husband down, last time I mentioned Carolyn he said
that might not be bad he could call her Carrie as a nickname. I've been
using the tactic that if I keep mentioning my names one of them will
catch on. So at this point I have the following names to choose from:
Carolyn ? Diaz
Samantha ? Diaz
Oliver Neil Diaz
David Neil Diaz
We might be more inclined for one name over the other as we get closer
or just wait until he or she has arrived. I'm heading more toward
Carolyn because I've seen a lot of baby Samantha's lately or is that
isolated.
Thanks for a while there I didn't think either of us was going to bend
and I would hate to pick a compromise name that neither of us really
liked.

I'm a Samantha! I think Samantha Diaz sounds nice, but everyone calls
me Sam and IMO Sam Diaz doesn't go so well. Carolyn is nice.

762.9 | getting close | CIM::DIAZ | | Fri Mar 13 1992 09:25 | 9 |
| Good point about Samantha being shortened, I didn't think of that.
Just when I think we're close, my husband asks "what are we going to
name it if it's a girl". Argh, I thought we had that narrowed down.
Anyway, out of the blue my husband says he likes Erin for a boy.
What do you think? Actually it's not too bad for me. Do you think
it's too Irish for Diaz?
How about Erin Neil Diaz or Erin David Diaz?

| IMO...Erin is a "girl's" spelling...how about Aaron?

762.11 | only my opinion | TIPTOE::STOLICNY | | Fri Mar 13 1992 11:28 | 10 |

Yes, Erin is a girls' name and is Irish-Gaelic. IMHO, I'd steer
clear of something that is going to be an obvious ethnic mismatch
with the last name, but that is just my opinion.
As K.C. says, Aaron is the male version of that pronounciation
and is of Hebrew origin. Aaron Diaz is okay; but I think you
could do better!!

762.12 | Carolyn Victoria Diaz | SWSCIM::DIAZ | | Wed Jun 17 1992 11:35 | 7 |
| It's a girl. We went with Carolyn Victoria. My husband came up with
Victoria, a feminization of Victor, my Grandfather's name. We had used
his Grandfather's name for our first daughter's, Justine Emmanuelle,
middle name. And of course we waited until after our sweetie was born
to pick her name.
Cheers,
