| I like the sound of Danielle Marie! It is very pretty and feminine.
Some other suggestions:
Michele Lee
Lee Anne (or Leigh Anne)
Rebecca Dyan
Mary Wilene
Zometa Katherine
Shawn Lee
I also like the boys name you have chosen. I think it is great when
family names are used. It keeps the name alive and it has a lot more
meaning.
God bless,
Trudy

716.2 | Grandmothers' names for a daugter | KYOA::CHANG | | Mon Aug 12 1991 14:38 | 6 |
| I also like the idea of using family names and really like the
boy's name made up of both grandfather's names. What are the
grandmother's names? Maybe you can use them or a derivation of
them for a girl.

My Grandmother was Pauline and my mother is Miriam.
My wife's grandmother was and her mother is Phylis(sp?).
I'm not too keen on any of them. I've been campaining for Danielle Marie
from .1. My sister is Ann Marie Wetzel which I like, but wouldn't want to
duplicate.
Now my wife is reverting from Owen Banks Wetzel for a boy, but I'm holding.

716.4 | IMO Owen would be a nice middle name | TIPTOE::STOLICNY | | Tue Aug 13 1991 10:50 | 20 |

I'm sorry to say this but I don't really care for Owen Wetzel.
While I think it's a great idea to carry on family names, I just
can't see burdening a young child with this combination of names
(the two on their own aren't bad, but together, well, it's just too
frumpy!). I might also guess by the lack of replies to your note
that the overall response to Owen Banks isn't too good but that
most people probably subscribe to the "if you can't say anything
nice, don't say anything at all".
What about?:
Michael Owen Wetzel
Derek Owen Wetzel
Steven Banks Wetzel
James Owen Wetzel
Douglas Banks Wetzel
Sorry, this is just my not-so-humble opinion,
Carol

716.5 | Go for Owen and Danielle!! | SELL1::FAHEL | Amalthea Celebras/Silver Unicorn | Tue Aug 13 1991 11:14 | 6 |
| I LIKE the name Owen Banks Wetzel, and also like Danielle Marie Wetzel.
But going back to Owen, I think that it sounds dignified, but not so
much that it is bad for a young child, not like, say, Harrison. And it
is a lot better than SOME other names I've heard!

716.6 | it was just one person's opinion... | TIPTOE::STOLICNY | | Tue Aug 13 1991 11:34 | 13 |

I knew people would start jumping in and supporting Owen if I entered
my note! So, at least it served some purpose!
I didn't say that I didn't like then name Owen...I just don't think it
sounds very good with Wetzel; particularly for a little boy. Also,
I personally think that it might be a good idea to complement a somewhat
"unique" first name with a more "common" middle name (or vice versa) so
that there is something to fall back on, so to speak, if the child doesn't
care for the uniqueness of his parents.
Food for thought,

| RE: .4 No, apology necessary. I advocate good critique as well as bad
(or better said "aggree or disagree"). I think you maybe right
as well. I'm such a bad judge of these things I think I better
rely on my wife's input heavily. I still like Owen Banks, but I'm
not sure if I'll like it always. It looks like Danielle Marie
is out for good (bummer), my wife knew some Danielle somewhere that
she didn't like. I will put the latest suggestions up to her and
post the results. Thanks all,
Phil

716.8 | More girls names | KYOA::CHANG | | Thu Aug 15 1991 10:19 | 14 |
| In my opinion, Owen is a unique, but not strange, name and I really
like it. Seems like you are starting over with the girls names,
though.
Since Danielle reminds your wife of a person she didn't like, have
you thought about Dawn Marie? The sound is similar, but the name
is different.
Getting back to grandmothers names: from Pauline, Miriam and Phyllis,
I like Miriam for a middle name. How about Amanda Miriam, Laura
Miriam, Leah Miriam, or Samantha Miriam?

716.10 | some other ideas for a girl | TIPTOE::STOLICNY | | Thu Aug 15 1991 12:22 | 11 |

For a baby girl, how's about?:
Paula Marie Wetzel (kinda after the paternal (great)grandmothers)
Alicia Anne Wetzel (using mom's middle name and Alicia seems a nice
complement to Melissa)
Tanya Jean Wetzel ('cause I like it!)
By the way, what is the origin of Wetzel?

716.11 | | GIZARD::WETZEL | | Fri Aug 16 1991 09:39 | 6 |
| I don't know much about the origin of Wetzel other than it's German and
more specifically, it's probably Pennsylvania Dutch. That's an interesting
question that I think I'll have to research. I have a family tree and
also know that the great Wetzel the scout (Virginia somewhere), That was
slautered by indians, was a relative. His name was Lewis (also my father's
name). I have a book about him.

716.12 | How about Dana? | RAB::MEHRING | | Wed Sep 11 1991 16:55 | 14 |
| If you liked Danielle, how about Dana Marie Wetzel?
or Dana Mirium
or Dana Pauline/Paulette
I think these sound good with your last name.
As for Owen Banks, I like that combo, but I kind of think Owen Wetzel is
a bit heavy on the w's. You could find lots of things that sound a little
better, but if the significance of the grandfathers is that important to you,
then go for it (I'm sure the kid will be honored - once he's old enough to
appreciate it, at least).
Good luck,
-Cori
