    My wife is one day past her due date and we are scrambling to come up
    with a name.  We don't know if it is a boy or a girl, so we can't
    narrow down our selection by sex.  Our last name is Smith and we 
    already have one child named Christopher James.  My wife's name is
    Christine Marie and my name is James Gerard.  We are considering
    Danielle Nicole for a girl and Alexander Edward (family name) for a
    boy, but I am not sold on these names.  I need to come up with an
    alternative for each.  Any suggestions?

    I agree with .1.  Both of the names that you have under consideration
    make nice choices.  I think you need two or more syllables and
    something less than common with Smith.  Christopher James is a great
    combination of your names!  Other ideas might be:
    
    Derek Edward Smith 
    Kyle Edward Smith
    Kevin Thomas Smith
    Garrett Steven Smith
    
    Danielle Marie Smith
    Jamie Michelle Smith
    Alexandra Jane Smith
    Karen Nicole Smith

are named Brenna and John).  Good luck!

p.s. My wife was also due on August 5th and we're still waiting, too!  (We
     do have names though, although the spelling of the girls name was only
     decided upon a few days ago.  See #678 for the final results (soon))....
