Hi Jill -
Any clues as to what sort of names you like? Any absolute no's,
family names that you want to use, etc?

698.2 | Not a clue! | YUPPY::MARTINJ | | Wed Jun 26 1991 10:45 | 11 |
| Hello Carol,
At the moment I don't have anything in particular in mind. My husband
likes the names John, Paul etc for a boy; Mary, Sue etc. for a girl.
Not very imaginative I know. I would prefer something a little more
interesting or unusual. Basically ... I've no idea!!!!
If we have a boy I may use Charles as a second name; after my father
but this is not definite.

698.3 | here's a few | TIPTOE::STOLICNY | | Wed Jun 26 1991 12:34 | 30 |
| Jill,
Alright, I'll have a go at it. If your husband likes "traditional"
names, I think a good compromise is to use one for the middle name.
Personally, I think that you should choose something relatively
unique to balance your relatively common surname. Here's some
suggestions:
For a girl: Rachel Marie Martin
Alicia Jane Martin
Tanya Jeanne Martin
Kelsey/Chelsea Lynn Martin
Lindsey Jane Martin
For a boy: Alexander John Martin
Jeffrey Paul Martin
Neil David Martin
Garrett/Gary Steven Martin
Derek Thomas Martin
Do any of those grab you? As a general comment, I'd stay away from
names that end in -in or -on or they'll kind of rhyme with the last
name (Kristin, Lauren, Jason, etc)
Sometime it helps to have both parents write down a list of 10 or
so names for each sex and then compare and see if there's any names
on BOTH lists...gives you something to start with!
Good luck,
Carol

| Hello,
Thanks for your ideas, I like Alicia, Olivia and Alexander, we
will do as suggested by making a list of the names we each prefer,
although my husband will probably keep opting for the "traditional" names
which I am not keen on at all.
Will let you know as soon as we have decided.

698.6 | fun but sometimes difficult | AKOCOA::CASSIDY | | Thu Jun 27 1991 16:33 | 22 |
| Hi Jill...
I just had a baby boy in December and he was named
Robert John Cassidy III. I was not so crazy about
a "traditional" name and all the names were used up like
Bob, Rob, Robert, RJ so we call him "Trey" for the III
I also have a daughter who was born with 4 others in the
family...all within 4 months...so here's a few of our unique
names in the family.
Tenli Elizabeth Craig Thomas
Hali Annalise Clark Regis
Courtney Brooke Brandon Philip
Shyla Marie
Makenzie Rae
Capri
If I had a Girl her name was going to be Cameryn ..... Have
fun naming your new little one...

| Jill,
How about Mary Wilene Martin for for a girl? Its traditional and
the Wilene is unique. I agree with the John Charles Martin someone else
suggested.

698.9 | French Flair? | KBOMFG::LUXENHOFER | Positively positive! | Fri Jul 12 1991 07:57 | 6 |
| How about a little French flair, like:

| I think Louisa Martin with a one-syllable middle name sounds nice; how
about
Louisa Rose Martin
Louisa Ann Martin
/Angela (whose own middle names have so many syllables I get tongue
tied !)
