| Elizabeth is a great middle name. Of the names listed in .1, I
particularly like Emily Elizabeth and Grace Elizabeth - they are so
feminine sounding.
More names: Patricia Elizabeth
Ariana Elizabeth
Christine Elizabeth
Marcia Elizabeth
Sandra Elizabeth

Hmmm....you tend to the very traditional with your boys, but are a
bit more daring with a girls name! Actually, I think alot of people
are that way... Melissa is a nice choice, but just doesn't flow to
well with Elizabeth. My suggestions are:
Christina Elizabeth
Amy Elizabeth
Laura Elizabeth
Renee Elizabeth
Michelle Elizabeth
Good luck, I hope you have a girl after all those boys!!

673.4 | Mindy Elizabeth sounds good... | 4EVER::MEHRING | | Mon Apr 29 1991 17:41 | 14 |
| I agree that Melissa is a bit too "s-ey" to go with Elizabeth, but I really
like Mindy Elizabeth.
Other possibilities:
Melanie Elizabeth
Kristen Elizabeth
Kelli Elizabeth
Joy Elizabeth
What nationalities are you and your husband? Sometimes that helps when
thinking of compatible names...

| If you like Mindy Elizabeth, how about Miranda Elizabeth ? Miranda can
be shortened to Mindy, and it is a pretty name itself......

673.7 | Nationality is quite a "mixed bag!" | AIMHI::FERRIN | | Tue Apr 30 1991 15:29 | 15 |
| Thanks for so many great suggestions!... I've got to think about some
of them - hopefully one will really "hit" as the right choice.
As far as nationality -- together we are quite a mixture! I'm English
Irish, French, and Portuguese (1/2)... He's not even sure of all that
he is...
I agree that Melissa Elizabeth sounds too "S-ey"... We've been thinking
about Melinda, using Mindy for the nickname, but I think I'd like to
use the name Mindy itself, rather than rely on a nickname.
Kristen is pretty -- and I do like some of the others -- thanks !!
Is Mindy too "feminine" -- after all these boys, I don't want to go
too far to the opposite extreme ??
|
673.8 | not too feminine but... | CNTROL::STOLICNY | | Tue Apr 30 1991 15:34 | 9 |

I don't know that Mindy is too feminine, per se. What you might want
to consider is whether it is a suitable name for infancy through
adulthood. It *is* a really cute name, but might be a bit "too cute"
if Mindy grew up to be a corporate attorney or something...does that
make sense? At least with Melinda, she could choose between Mindy
and Melinda depending on the situation and her personality!

673.9 | Times they are a changin' | 4EVER::MEHRING | | Tue Apr 30 1991 18:24 | 17 |
| I don't think Mindy is as feminine (or little-girlish) as Melissa or Jessica
or a *lot* of other girls names. I can see Mindy becoming a corporate attorney
as easily as I could see someone named Linda doing so. These days (and by the
time the next generation grows up) that sterotype will hopefully not exist or
at least be as strong as it is today. I guess there will always be a few
toughies like Muffy, Chastidy, Tiffany, but time will change those too, no doubt.
How about Robin Elizabeth
or Toby Elizabeth?
Two of my doctors have those names, so it didn't handicap them in getting where
they wanted to be...
Just my opinion. By the way, no matter *what* name you pick, those boys are
bound to tease their little sister!
-Cori (who has two older brothers...)

673.10 | Sticking with Mindy | TUNER::FAHEL | Amalthea Celebras, Silver Unicorn | Wed May 01 1991 09:17 | 11 |
| Re: .9 (Robin & Toby)
But the base noter specified a gender specific name. Robin and Toby
aren't (which is probably why those doctors weren't handicapped, no
offense to their talent, of course!)
The name Mindy reminds me of the show "Mork & Mindy", and the Mindy in
that wasn't a "delicate flower", but a somewhat ambitious and strong
person (one would HAVE to be, to have put up with Mork! ;^) ).

673.12 | pretty much down to Mindy or Melinda | AIMHI::FERRIN | | Wed May 01 1991 12:10 | 8 |
| Well, your replies have helped to make it much more of a possibility...
It is seeming more and more like the "right" name -- Many of the
other suggested names are pretty too (I especially like Kristin, Amy,
Patricia and Karen)...
I'm glad it isn't perceived as "too feminine" -- I like giving her
the option of Melinda or Mindy ... thanks so much for the input!
I really appreciate each reply!!

I'm glad you're settling in on Mindy/Melinda; I like it more and
more each time I read it!
re: Kristin. Very pretty name, but not sure I like the sounds of
Kristin Ferrin. Do you? I guess the same (or worse, assuming
I know how to pronounce Ferrin) goes for Karen Ferrin.
Amy Elizabeth Ferrin does sound great though!

| I HAVE A DAUGHTER NAMED KERI ELIZABETH- I LOVE THE NAME ELIZABETH.
I TOO KNEW I WANTED THE NAME ELIZABETH (AFTER MY GRANDMOTHER), AND I
HAS A HARD TIME DECIDING ON A NAME. BUT, I KNEW WHEN I HEARD KERI THAT
IT WAS RIGHT FOR MY DAUGHTER. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO SEE THE BABY
BEFORE YOU CAN DECIDE!

I like the idea of seeing the baby first -- maybe that's how it will
have to be this time!... I'm still wrestling with Mindy and Melinda
...
also like Kerri and Melissa (even with all the "s'es") and a few
others... I don't remember it being so difficult all the other times!
Thanks again for the input...

| We are pleased to announce that Mindy Elizabeth Ferrin arrived
Tuesday, June 18th at 10:53 am. She's home now and doing well --
an absolute doll!! (and quite a change after all the boys!)
Her brothers just love her, especially the oldest one. Thanks
again for your input -- We're real pleased with the name -- it
seems to be just right.

| Congratulations!! What a blessing to have a girl after all those boys.
When she gets old enough to date, her "dates" will take good care of
her with all her brothers to deal with. I know that you are all simply
ecstatic and I wish you God's continued blessings.
