If you are willing to give up your maiden name yet want to see your children carry on your name as well.. . how about having your maiden name become the childs middle name? My name is Jrgen (Juergen for the "non-Umlaut terminals), my wife's was Joanie Andelin before our marriage. She hyphenated her last name with mine. Our kids last name is the same as mine, but the have Joanies maiden name as their middle. So here is our family: Juergen Pfister and Joanie Andelin-Pfister with Maria Andelin Pfister Eric Andelin Pfister Jennifer Andelin Pfister It worked for us...

I guess that would depend on the name and if you want a middle name...I guess we could use both but I think: Vincent Geraint McGowan and Emerald Charity McGowan would be some pretty long names, even though Snell would be their last name... I guess it would all depend. r.

I agree with .1. Until a few years ago, I never heard of using the wife's maiden name as a child's middle name. But a friend of mine used her middle name for both of her sons. It went very nicely with their last name and was very distinguished sounding together. Another friend of mine who is an only child, gave her maiden name as a middle name to her third child, who is a girl. Again, the names matched nicely. At confirmation, these children picked other names for themselves. So they, in fact, have 4 names now - first, confirmation-middle, birth-middle, and last! Chris

I think it's a nice idea... In fact, when I got married I took my husband's last name, but rather than hyphenating my maiden name with it, I turned my maiden name into my middle name. - Kathryn

I tend to go by K.C., C. being the initial for my maiden name. My ACTUAL middle name is Theresa. K.T.C. Fahel :^)

I did the same thing made my maiden name my middle name. My father had all girls and there are not too many of us "Belfield" 's left. So I went from Kimberly Anne Belfield -> Kimberly Belfield Ricks. /Kimberly |
