Hi Kathryn -
Do you have any clues as to what types of names your friends
prefer? For example, do they have any restrictions or family
names they'd like to use...what are their other children(s)'
names (if any). It usually helps to narrow down the list
of suggestions. Richards is pretty easy to work with.

I've a few suggestions. I think that names ending in -a sound good
with Richards so I recommend:
Pamela, Tanya, Andrea, Alexandra, Vanessa (all nice but not overly
common).
I also think Valerie Richards sounds great!

| Carol,
I like Tanya and Julia very much and I agree with your theory about
names ending in "a" to go with their last name. Now, to answer some
of your questions... No, they have no other children and I'm not sure
if they have any restrictions due to other family members' names.
One thing I do know is that they lile "middle-of-the-road" names.
You know, ones that aren't too common but at the same time aren't
way out there either. They're not really into being "trendy" either.
I have a friend named Tanya who I feel is a wonderful person (I was
considering that name if I have another girl even though it doesn't
sound too good with MacDonald) and I'm going to try to sell them on
that one. Julia is also very pretty, though. Thanks for the
suggestions, and thank-you too, .1

Kathryn-
Tanya is one of our choices (if we have another child and if it is
a girl). It's is slovac (sp?) in origin so "fits" with our last
name. The only thing I don't like is that alot of New Englanders
seem to pronounce it Tawn-ya or Ton-ya and I prefer Tan-ya.
FWIW, how do you feel about Kelly Richards? I think "soft" sounding
first names are ideal with Richards.

My sister's name is Leah. It is unique without being strange and
sounds well with Richards, too.

Kathryn (if you're around...)-
What happened with baby girl Richards? Is she here yet?

645.11 | I haven't heard, Carol... | EXIT26::MACDONALD_K | no unique hand plugs the dam | Fri May 24 1991 16:14 | 9 |
| Sorry Carol, I have no idea. 'Daddy' Richards works at night here
in the same complex as me and I only see him once in great while.
(I think he was too shy to post a note in here himself.) Anyway,
I did see him about two weeks ago and he told me his wife was due
in two weeks, so that means baby Richards could very well be here
by now. I'll post something when I know the details...

645.12 | Update on baby Richards | EXIT26::MACDONALD_K | no unique hand plugs the dam | Thu May 30 1991 14:40 | 14 |
| Well, I was almost right, Carol. Baby Richards arrived the day after
I posted the last reply... And because they couldn't quite decide on
a girl's name, they had a BOY! He weighed in at 7lbs. 15 oz. and his
name is Sean David Richards. (Daddy's first name is David). I just
spoke with one of Dave's co-workers and he told me that mom and baby
are doing great and she was only in labor for about 3 hours or so.
Everybody is ecstatic...
Everybody, thanks for all of your help in coming up with girls' names.
Perhaps they'll use one of them somewhere down the road if little Sean
ever has a sister.
