I think it's beautiful! If I didn't already have one
picked out, I'd take it. (; Just kiddin'! (8
And I agree with you, Joel, Aria is a name if you choose
to give it to someone.
Look at it this way, do you honestly think Dweezil or
Moon Unit (Zappa) were actual "names" until Frank used
them?! (:

| Hi,
Aria is a very pretty name. It has a meaning in the English language
as:
a*ri*a (ar'e'a)
" A solo vocal piece with instrumental accompaniment, as in an
opera. [Ital. < Lat. aer, air]
Rather a pretty definition in my opinion.

| I can't remember when, but I do remember seeing Aria used as a name
before. Go for it! Think of other musical names that ARE used
(Melody, Harmony)
K.C.
P.S. Dweezil Zappa is NOT his real name...it is a nickname. I saw his
REAL name once (but I can't remember it off-hand). Moon Unit,
however...

| Aria is very pretty. As far as whether its "a name" or not,
well, it will be for this little baby! I think there's quite
a few names being used of late of unclear origin; it doesn't
make them any less beautiful or fitting to the person who
carries them.
I have heard of both Arianne and Arianna - can you find either of
those in a baby name book? (see also note 214) Maybe Aria is
a derivative of those names...

| Well, my uncle's sister's name is Aria, and she's in her 60's, so I'd
say it's a name that's been around a while. I've always thought it was
a very pretty name. If you like it, go ahead and use it.

Glad to see such positive responses!

I rest my case. Name her Aria and know that she will
always have a song, if not in her heart, at least
in her name!

Joel,
What a nice thought! I believe your shy, noter friend is very lucky
to have a friend like you. By the way, I also think Aria is a lovely
name for a little girl. But what's even more important, is that it's
also a nice name for an adult. Remember mom, they're not babies
forever, unfortunately. As for it being a "real name" or not, I vote
with everyone else. Congratulations...

Well, I was out with a sick "baby" yesterday (almost four)
but here I am saying thanks for your input. My friend
seems convinced now that Aria is a good choice!

I also think that Aria is a beautiful name. Wasn't that the name
of the mermaid in the Walt Disney movie, "The Little Mermaid"?

My 3 1/2 year-old has the movie and I have unfortunately
seen it many, many times. Her name is Ariel.
But she sings!
