619.0. "Short Names Needed" by BPOV06::MANDERFIELD (Common Sense Is Not So Common) Wed Dec 19 1990 15:14

    	Hi

I am looking for some suggestions on some short names to
go with Manderfield, both girls & boys. I really would
like one syllable names because my last name is so long
and i prefer uncommon or 'unique' names but nothing
    	bizzare or outlandish.

I have a couple in mind but would like to hear some more
ideas. By the way, i'm due June 8th so i've got plenty
    	of time.

    	Thanks
    	Brenda

I like alot of the suggestions in .2. Especially Jane, Dawn, and
Beth for a girl and Carl, Mark, and Paul for a boy. I really don't
care for names that are generally the nickname for a longer name
(i.e. Sue, Don, etc)...the child/adult will spend a good deal of
time trying to convince people that their name is not the longer
    version....

P.S. why not tell us what your ideas are so far to give an idea of
what you like. there have been some real odd-ball suggestions
in this file of late (in my opinion)!

So far, I was thinking of Eva Lyn or Tess Irene (Irene after my
grandmother) for girls and Dane ? for a boy, no middle name as
of yet but maybe Dane Scott.

They're different but not bizarre. What do'ya think? The only
problem is my husband, he doesn't like ANY name i come up with.
And he never has any suggestions himself, except he likes Wesley,
    	YUCK!

How about Kent for a boy?

I like both Eva and Tess for girls names...

Would you consider just Wes for a boy? I don't like Wesly either,
but don't think Wes is too bad.

How does Giovan Irene sound? Thats my neice's name and she never
complained about it. I think it sounds well with your last name. As for
a boy, John Charles or James Edward, James Joseph. Your last name is
really easy to pick a name for as just about anything will go with it.

    Good Luck!!!
