609.0. "...To go with Ames or Vazquez???" by CSC32::W_AMES (I don't KNOW where Tinkerbell is!) Tue Nov 13 1990 03:19

Well, the "big day" is getting closer and closer. (Looking about 4
    months down the line now...)

The SO and I are having a hard time deciding on names.
Any suggestions for the last name of Ames?
...Or for the last name of Vazquez?
(Or names that would go with either?)

Neither of us can really think of anything and a few names are
    definately out...

William (2 members of his family)
Charles (at least one member of each generation ON EACH SIDE of mine)
anything that sounds like Andrea (my sister's name)
Jose' & Maria are both out (too common for Spanish names - IMO)

Things we would like to have in...

Marshall as a boys middle name (family name on my Father's Mother's side)

    Thanks for the help!!

With the surname Vasquez, I would recommend sticking to either a
Spanish name or a relatively common, simple first name. For
example, I think Colin Vasquez sounds kinda funny. A few boys'
names that come to mind are:

    Jon Marshall Vasquez
    Eric Marshall Vasquez
    Steven Marshall Vasquez

Possibilities for girls: Amy, Christine, Laura all sound nice with
    Vasquez.

Ames seems like a much easier name to work with (nice to have a
choice!) though I'd shy away from names that begin with "A" and
    would pick a multi-syllabic name.

    Spanish-sounding suggestions: Natalie, Antonia(o), Rose.

    How's that for a hodge-podge of suggestions??

Marshall is a great middlename for a boy. You might even consider
Marsha as a middlename if its a girl.

    First names could include:

    Steven Marshall
    James Marshall
    Alexander Marshall

    Catherine Marsha
    Eleanor Marsha
    Leslie Marsha

    Chris

Well, we've decided on some names.

If the baby is a girl, she will be Alexandrea Nichole Ames-Vazquez.
If the baby is a boy, he will be Nicholas Marshall Ames-Vazquez.

    Only 12 weeks to go!!

Well, as of 30-Mar-91 our family now has Nicholas Marshall Vazquez to
help keep us hopping. He was born at 9:28 pm and weighed 6 lbs. 12 oz.
He was 19 1/2 inches long.

In the time prior to my starting work again, he has grown one inch and
    about 3 1/4 lbs.
