Just wondering if anyone knows what Melanie means. I've seen the name listed, but no explanation. Also, here's a few names I like. What do you think? Girls Boys Jenaya Max Claudia Tyler (Ty?) Tia Joel Bria Kyle Shawntelle Chad Alex Alex I like REALLY different names. Does anyone have any suggestions? I love Max. I think it sounds so masculine. Thanks for the input! Melanie (Lanie for short)

I have a friend named Melanie who had a baby boy about 6 months ago. She also loves the name Max. So, they named their baby John Maxwell (first & middle names), and they call him Max for short. I thought that was a really great idea. Kathy | |||||

Melanie comes from the Greek word 'melanos', which means 'black colour'. The female name in modern Greek has bacome Melina. The version 'Melanie' is rather French. I also see 'Melania' in Italian, 'Melany' or 'Mellany' in English. Melanie's are celebrated on ... 31 December ! Anne. |
