543.0. "Russian or Czechoslovanian names" by HAM03::VEEH (If I can't help U, help me) Thu Jun 21 1990 06:32

Hey,

I'm expecting a baby at the end of August. My favorite name for a boy is
Milan from the Czechoslovanian book writer Milan Kundera. Do you know any
other nice Russian or Czechoslovanian names for boys and girls.

For a girl, there's Anastacia (if you like nicknames, there's Stacey for
short). Also, Nadia.

I have to say that I fell in love with the name Raisa (SP?), its
so pretty and I really think Mikhail is a lovely substitute for
    Michael.

I know a Russian woman named Nastia and her daughter's name is
Ulka (pronounced Yool'-ka). I've always liked the name Natalia,
but I'm not sure if it's Russian. Congratulations...

My mother's family is all Russian, so let's see if I can help out.
Almost all the women are named either Sophia or Vera. My great
grandmother's name was Malasha (I named my dog this.). My mother's
name is Katherine, but my grandmother always called her "Katchya".
Some others: Natasha (or Natassia)& Anya.

My grandfather's name was George (pronounce Gay-org)
    Some others: Sasha, Sergei, Boris.

That's all I can remember at the moment.

I love Wanja for a boy (real old rushian name) and Tatjana for a
    girl (rushian as well).

    Good luck.
