542.4 | Very french, very different | SMAUG::RLAMONT | | Thu Jun 21 1990 09:34 | 8 |
| Well, this is a very different name, but I heard it several times and
it's french. I don't know the meaning, and you either like it or hate
it. I think it's very interesting.....
Pilar. It's pronouced very french like Pelar (long e), with strength
on the lar.

542.5 | I know of a Pilar too.... | BARTLE::BARRL | Rainbow Connection | Thu Jun 21 1990 12:25 | 5 |
| My sister's boyfriend is from Columbia and his sister's name is Pilar.
It may very well be a French name because he has a brother named Rene'
(pronounced Reh-nay).

542.6 | Italian and Spanish ! | BRS01::HENROT | | Fri Jun 22 1990 03:42 | 5 |
| The Franch name is Adrienne. I suspect that Adrianna would be the
Italian form of it.
Pilar is definitely Spanish.
Best regards

| One of our friends married a Spanish girl when he was studyng for a year in
Spain. Her name was Pilar. When they got married she became Pilar Percival!
Anyway - I would definately say that Pilar was a Spanish name. It doesn't look
French at all to me.....

| How about
Adrianna Maria Sanford
I know they are both 'a' names but it seems to roll of the tongue quite
nicely.

542.11 | Simplify it | NUTMEG::MACDONALD_K | | Wed Jun 27 1990 15:48 | 7 |
| If you'd like another opinion... I'd go for a one syllable middle
name. I think Adrianna is a beautiful name and can stand well on
its own, and a middle name with more than one syllable tends to
"compete" with Adrianna. You've already said that you like Lianne...
how about Leigh, or Lee, or Lea?

about one syllable?

My mother-out-law,...I mean in-law will love to hear that. Her name is
Rosaleen. I too love the name ROSE. Also the other suggestions about
one syllable names are great. (Lee, Lea, etc.)
By the way we don't know what sex our new arrival will be..The other
day when I witnessed the baby "break-dancing" in my wife's stomach I
had the horrifying realization that....it might be a boy...

I agree that one syllable sounds best with the multi-syllabic first
name. For another opinion, I like Adrianna Beth Sanford. It's
a boy!? - Adrian is the male equivalent if you really like the
name - not my favorite though!

542.16 | A positive Adrian | STEREO::FAHEL | Amalthea Celebras | Mon Jul 02 1990 16:01 | 11 |
| For a change...a name with a POSITIVE connection!!
My grandmother's husband's name is Adrian, and that man is an absolute
SAINT! My "little Memere" has Alzheimer's, and has to live in a
nursing home, and Adrian goes to see her every day, takes her out to
lunch, buys her little things, etc.
(For the record, it wasn't his idea to put her in a nursing home; it
was done for his OWN health!)
