Does anyone know the origin and meaning of the girl's name Ilona? I am
told it is common in Hungary. Ilona was my husband's grandmother who
came from Hungary. I'd especially like to know if it means anything in
that language.

Hi Laura,
I know someone with that name. She was born in Poland so as far as I
know, it is a Polish name. I am expecting a baby in September and when
I told her that the name we have picked out for a girl is Helen, she
told me that's what her name means in Polish! I was very surprised, I
had no idea.
