| How about Kayla for a girl and for a boy I'm tempted to say
Kyle, but it's *very* popular. There's always Kevin... too
boring??? I'll check my babyname book at home tonight.

| A branch of my family has used the 'k' names for the boys. They've
all been mentioned already except for one of them.
Kurt
Karl
Kent
Kyle
The youngest is Kyle and he's now 21....The only girl in the family
(came between Kent and Kyle) is Marianna...

| For a girl how about Kendra?
|
524.5 | baby K | TIPTOE::STOLICNY | | Mon Apr 23 1990 09:19 | 9 |
|
How about Kimberly, Kathryn, Kelsey or Krystal (or any of the spelling
variations) for a girl? Kendra, though a nice name, is awfully
close to Kendall.
Can't think of anything that hasn't already been said for a boy!

For a boy, a little unusual, but I think nice:
Kramer
Kenneth
Kent
Kirke
Kelton
Kalvin...(stretching it a little, maybe?)
Good luck, and let us know what you finally decide!

| For a girl, there's Kristin (or Kristen),
Kirsten
Katrina
Kathleen
Kelly (can be a boys name, too)
I can't think of any new ones to add for the boys, unless you consider a "C"
name and spell it with a "K", like Korey (vs. Corey).

524.8 | ..another one... | BARTLE::WHITCOMB | | Mon Apr 23 1990 13:41 | 10 |
| Ooohh! I just remembered a really unusual girl's name that a friend of
mine chose for here little girl. It struck me as quite pretty:
"Kylie"
Odd, but definitely not with the "popular" crowd!
Again, good luck,
Jennifer

| Oh yeah... how could I have forgotten a junior high buddy of mine--she
was great, and I still keep in touch with her! Her parents are German,
and her name is very definitely of German origin, but it always struck
me as very pretty, and very refined, just like her mother. "KATJA" is
the name, and it's pronounced like "caughtchya or gotcha" with a "K."
Her sister's name is Anya, also a very pretty German name.

| Thank you all for your replies. I just love Kendra (right, it is so
close to Kendall) and Kayla ... As for a boy, I like Korey but wouldn't you
know that my old sister said that is the name she wants to use!!!!
BUT whoses pregnant...ME!! Another one I saw somewhere was Keegan....
What do you'll think??? Keegan Cromwell/// Ken will have a fit! If
he would just let me name the boy Kenneth William JR. we'd be set! but
he will not hear of it.!!
If you think of more....I'll add it to the list.

| I saw a rather nice K name for a girl, but it may be a bit too close to
the mother's: Kyran.
There's also a variation of a name: Kourtney (well, on second thought...)
I also tend to stick with the more traditionals:
(girls)
Katherine/Kathleen/Kathryn
Kimberly
Krystal
Kelly
Kasey
(boys)
Keith
Kevin
Karl
Kenneth
Kyle

524.13 | KEELIN | USWAV1::BRADISH | | Tue Apr 24 1990 16:23 | 6 |
| I found a "K" name in BEYOND JENNIFER AND JASON name book that I really
like. I haven't proposed any names to my husband yet. I'm due October
24, and he thinks its too early to think about this kind of stuff.
But anyway, the girls name I like is KEELIN. I forgot anything about
the name, but it might be Irish.

|
A few I don't think have been offered yet...
My friend's ex-roommates name was "Kalie"
My husband's daughter's name is "Kara" (He's English, so they've
always pronounced it to rhyme with "car-a", but it's also
pronounced like "care-a")
The lady down the street named her son "Kima"
There was a family in town with 7 or 8 children, all named with
"K's". Some of the ones I remember: Kelly, Kasey, Kassandra,
Kim, Katie...
Good luck!

| Just thought of another boy's name ... Knute. I don't really
like it, but if your husband is a sports fan... Also, I knew a
guy in school who was ultra-popular and his name was Kern.
I keep forgetting to look in my babynames books at home. Oh well,
maybe tonight. The name Kris (boy or girl) also keeps going through
my head. There actually are quite a few "K" names out there if
you think about it.

I think Kira is a lovely name for a girl.
I 'm not sure about Korey, my Mum said its slang for something rude!!

524.20 | Here's another shot at it | DOCTP::FARINA | | Mon May 07 1990 17:49 | 5 |
| How about Kaitlyn? I believe I saw Katrina here already, but my mother
knew someone named Katrinka. Definitely unusual and quite musical.
I'm having a much harder time with boys' names! People have come up
with more than I could think of.

524.21 | Stream-of-consciousness reply! | DOCTP::FARINA | | Mon May 07 1990 17:56 | 12 |
| I just started thinking about my cousin's daughter, who's name is
Kathryn Collette. Her knickname is KC. Then I thought...
Kasey for a boy!
Kacie for a girl!
What do you think? Both are unusual these days, and Kasey Cromwell
sounds nice, I think.
Also, a good friend is named Christofily (Greek), and she went through
a stage of writing her name Kristofily. I really like that name,
although I'm not so sure it goes with Cromwell!

| Ha! I had to laugh when I saw the name Kathryn Colette... My name
is Kathryn and my sister's name is Colette! Regarding Kasey... yes,
I like that one. I told you earlier I would look in my babyname
books but all I found were weird names like Kermit. All of the
decent ones have already been mentioned here. One other, though,
(since you like Kasey) could be Korey. It definately *is* tough
finding a boy's name beginning with K. Keep us posted...

| How about Kody for a boy and Kaija for a girl (It's Hawaiian).
There's also Kira (girl), Kent, Kirk, Kelsey (girl), Kerri (girl)
I can't think of any more.

Kelsey can be a boy name, too. Look at Kelsey Grammer (sp?) who
plays Frazier on Cheers.

| We'll again thanks for all of the replies!!!
My list is:
Girls: Kaitlynn Elaine Cromwell
Kayla Elaine Cromwell
Boys: Korey, Kasey, Kody, Kolby..... Ken really is dead-set against
using a K but.......!!! We will
see....! :-)
I really feel like I'm going to have a girl...I always catch myself
saying "The girls!"
Thanks again,

| I don't think this boy's name has been mentioned: Well, actually, you
did mention something similar in your last list. I like - just:
Kole Cromwell
You mentioned - Kolby. I don't really like boys name that could be
feminine. but that's just my oppinion...
Also, Kendra as .26 mentions is much to close to your daughter Kendall.
Diffinately would be toooo many Ken...s in the family. Kayla and
Kaitlyn are nice choices. Kate is pretty. Must the names begin with
"K"
Good luck!

524.29 | Kyra | INFACT::HILGENBERG | | Wed May 23 1990 13:54 | 18 |
| My name is "Kyra" - pronounced with a long 'i' sound; sort of pronounced like
the city Cairo, but with an 'ahh' sound at the end instead of 'o' sound.
My mom told me it was Russian because it was a Russian woman's name that
defected from Russia about the time I was born -- which doesn't necessarily
mean the name itself is Russian. She wrote a book, called "Kyra" about her
life.
My last name (maiden name) also started with a "K". I always thought it was
too many K sounds when my whole name was said. But I like my first name and
always have. Sometimes I just introduce myself as Kyra and then if they need
to know my last name we can get to that later. People always pronounce and
spell it wrong but that doesn't bother me (they do that with my last name,
street address, etc. too!). My name is definitely unusual; I've only met one
other woman in 32 years with the same name.
Some people tell me it's easy to remember because it's unusual; others tell
me it's hard to remember because it's unusual.

524.31 | gotta love the letter K | GIAMEM::MCCULLOCH | | Thu Jun 14 1990 12:28 | 11 |
| Hi -
I love names with K but no one picked mine KRISTINE (like Christine,
not like Kristen which I hear all the time!)
There are not too many little kids these days, I don't think, with the
name Kristine. I don't really meet that many women with this spelling.
Incidentally, my mom liked K's too - my younger sister's name is Kalli.
Good luck (I definitely thnk you should stick with K)
