| Hi, I think that name is beautiful but then again, I'm prejudice 'cause
I named my first daughter Merideth Leigh (now 20 years old). The
spelling is different from traditional because we nicknamed her
Meri-Leigh. I seriously have no idea where I got that name. But if
all the Merideth's of the world turn out to be as wonderful as mine,
it's definitely a great name to pick.

Hmmmm... My Babynames book gave a different meaning. Mine says
that Meredith is a Welsh name, but means Great Chief.
I like your definition better, but... I wonder if the discrepancy
might be due to the difficulty in translating from Welsh to English?
Anyway, I think Meredith is a great name for a girl. We are expecting
our first in about 3 weeks. Meredith Anne is our first choice of
a name for a girl.
REF: -2 Just curious why did you name your daughter Meridith 20 years
ago. Was Meredith more popular then? How did you decide
on the name?

| Meredith is a lovely name for a girl.
To me, it conveys strength but also femininity.
It's unusual but far from weird.
It's somewhat timeless (classic maybe? Compare Ethel, Bessie, Bertha,
Flora, as examples of how some names can be identified with a
particulargeneration).
Good choice.
