435.1 | My vote against Amanda Schmand | STEREO::FAHEL | Amalthea, the Silver Unicorn | Tue Sep 05 1989 08:20 | 13 |
| As much as I like the name Amanda, Amanda Schmand just doesn't ring.
The rest are OK, although (IMO) a name without an A, or a SH sound
would be best.
Julie Lauren Schmand
Denise Lauren Schmand
Elizabeth Lauren Schmand
Krystal Lauren Schmand
...etc.

435.2 | Why not Lauren first? | CLOVE::MACDONALD_K | | Tue Sep 05 1989 09:40 | 13 |
| I agree with .1 - Amanda Schmand is a bit much - you just don't
notice it when you say it with "Lauren". As for the other names,
they're O.K., I guess... I'm just not too fond of the ones with
the letter "L" in them when you say them with Lauren. Like Aleen
Lauren Schmand, for example doesn't sound right to me because of
the two l's - but then, she probably won't be using her middle
name too often as most people don't. (I wonder how it would sound
with Tom Brokaw saying that name :-)) My *real* opinion is that
they use Lauren as her first name. I've always liked that name
and I think it sounds fine with Schmand.

435.3 | HOW DO YOU SAY THE LAST NAME? | SHARE::SHEPELUK | | Tue Sep 05 1989 12:37 | 12 |

I don't know... Lauren doesn't sound right with Schmand. It's o.k. as
a middle name, but unlike .2, I don't think it rings very well. The
"ren" in Lauren and the "mand" in Schmand, sound to much alike or
something. When you say it - the names just fall around together.
Then again, depends on how the last name is said.
Is it pronounced SHOE MAND or SHA MAND?

| Y'know, I was just thinking. The baby is due on Christmas "Eve" right?
How about: Eve Lauren Schmand ?
Eva Schmand or Evette Schmand ?

On that line of thought, how about:
Joy Lauren Schmand
or
Holly Lauren Schmand (the better of the 2)
(I have a friend named Joy, and a niece named Holly)

How about Hollace, or Hollis? Her nickname could be Holly.
By the way, do they know that they are having a girl?

| On the holiday theme you could also go with:
Noelle or Nicol or Nicolette (for St. Nick), although I'm not sure
how either would go with Lauren.

435.9 | How about Natalie | SKIWVA::FSCNO | | Tue Sep 12 1989 14:19 | 5 |
| My sister's name Natalie means " born at Christmas". Natalie Lauren
Schmand had a nice ring. Although the baby may come early or late
and the name would lose some of its meaning.
