429.1 | From the boy's name | STOREM::MARGOLIS | | Thu Aug 17 1989 10:48 | 8 |
| Capitalizing on the boy's name which you both like, how is
Elora Nicole Brodowski? The full name has variation in the number
of syllables (3-2-3), making the name appealing to listen to.
Good luck!

On the girls names, why not:
Elora Daenon (like in the movie Willow)
Mercedes (why not a relatives name of whom you and your husband
are fond of -or- the name of the person who introduced you two)
I love all of your choices!

Where did you get Maddison and Elora? Just curious ... I looked them up in my
babyname book, and Madison was found under "boys", and I couldn't find Elora
at all.
How about Elora Maeve?

429.4 | I love the unusual! | WFOV11::BRODOWSKI | | Thu Aug 17 1989 14:01 | 10 |
| I was hoping that someone would find them unusual! I heard the
name Maddie some time ago and thought Maddison would be more formal.
I came up with the name Elora, I think it sounds so peaceful. Another
person who sent me a reply said that they heard this name in the
movie Willow.
How do you pronounce Maeve?
Thanks,
Denise

Yes, I've always thought Maddie was short for Madelaine. But
anybody remember the movie "Splash"? Darryl Hannah's character
was named Madison - she got the name as she and Tom Hanks were
crossing over Madison Ave. while they were discussing possible
names for her. She insisted on being called Madison even though
Tom Hanks didn't approve.

Denise,
Maeve is pronounced like Mayve (rhymes with save).
I think Elora Maeve has a nice ring to it, don't you?

429.10 | | KAOFS::S_BROOK | Here today and here again tomorrow | Fri Aug 18 1989 14:50 | 5 |
| Elora is the name of a small mill town in South Western Ontario,
with Scots and Pennsylvania Deutch history. So, my guess is that
Elora is likely a Germanic variant of Laura.

429.11 | "Maeve" | WFOV12::BRODOWSKI | | Fri Aug 18 1989 15:04 | 11 |
| RE: pronunciation of Maeve.
Lori,
Thank you, it does sound really nice. By the way, my maiden name
is Mavis - my husband always calls me Mave. This combo sounds like
a winner to me!!
Thanks for your suggestion.

429.12 | AUSTIN OR BRENNA?? | TOLKIN::SALLET | | Tue Aug 22 1989 16:20 | 12 |
| Denise:
I like the name Austin a great deal is its a boy. My nephew is
named Austin Miles and I think its really different. Have you ever
considered the name Brenna for a girl? Its different and can't
be shortened thats for sure. Perhaps it wouldn't sound too good
with your last name; not sure. Anyone else out there ever hear
of Brenna? Read it in a book somewhere. Anyways...I think Austin
is great and different too....Elora Maeva sounds great too. Good
luck!

429.13 | IMHO | STEREO::FAHEL | Amalthea, the Silver Unicorn | Tue Aug 22 1989 16:47 | 7 |
| I have heard of Brynna (pronounced with a long I). I like that
one.
My vote is against Elora Maeva. Also against Austin; makes it sound
as if the babe will be born with a cowboy hat on.

429.14 | a typo? | USWAV1::BRADISH | | Wed Aug 23 1989 16:33 | 2 |
| Brenna can be shortened to Brenn. It also looks like it may be
a typo for Brenda.

429.15 | Madison Bailey | WORDS::SIMPSON | Igloo | Fri Aug 25 1989 12:01 | 8 |
| When my husband and I saw "Splash" he fell in love with the name
Madison. So, depending on if we end up wih two girls, the second
one will be named, Madison Bailey. I think it sounds nice together.
Of course, we haven't had the first one yet. (Kylie Corinne) or
even a boy, but we're working on it...!

Are you sure it was just the name he fell in love with? :-)
I know my husband would go for any name as long as Darryl
Hannah was playing the role!

429.18 | My Vote | KAOFS::M_FETT | Its a Mystery to Me | Mon Oct 02 1989 16:24 | 15 |
| I like Elora Maeve, but I have the feeling that Maeve would be
pronounced May-Eve by people reading it (I know I always do...I
actually like it better that way).
Just be warned that when people come across an unusual name, they
usually pronounce or write it incorrectly. I think when I start my
family, I will do as my parents did - get a name that people have heard
before, but not one that's too common. I'm actually very happy with
mine.
Monica Fett-Barney
By the way, I'm not sure about the Germanticity of Elora, but a variant
that I like a lot - Elona - is definitely German.
