What do you think of the name Garrett? I haven't seen it listed in this file and I really like it. Does anyone know what the meaning is? Thanks!

I like the name. I "think" it's an English last name that people have started to use. I know a girl who used it for her son and it had been her maiden name. That's all I know about it, but it's a good name for a boy. Sorta like Gary... - Christina | |||||

It's actually an old English form of Gerard (can't remember what Gerard means). The family name comes after the given name, not the other way around. I've always liked Garrett too. It sounds like a family name (which can make a name sound rather sophisticated), but really isn't (so you can't be accused of affectation). It also allows the user to opt for either a formal or informal (i.e., Gary) form. Some other names in this family: Bennett (from Benedict; Ben for short), Barrett (from ?; Barry for short), and Wyatt (from Guy; ? for short). -- Cliff |
