396.1 | How about Samantha? | CAPNET::BARKER | | Fri Jun 02 1989 08:47 | 8 |

When I read your last name, the first girls name that popped into my
mind was Samantha. It is not very common and sounds nice together...
Samantha Swei. The two "S" sounds flow nicely, don't you think?
Just a thought....

396.2 | Samantha is nice, but.... | TSG::CHANG | | Fri Jun 02 1989 09:25 | 5 |
| I too thought about Samantha. But they hate the nickname Sam.
One of the name I suggested is Victoria, the nickname is
Vicki. What do you think?

396.3 | go with a long one... | CAPNET::BARKER | | Fri Jun 02 1989 10:20 | 8 |

Victoria is nice. I think a long name is the way to go because Swei
is so short. It flows nicely. I also like names that don't have short
nicknames like Verronica. That way her long name will stick with her
and sounds so nice with the short last name -- Verronica Swei -- sound
good doesn't it?

| My friend, Veronica's nickname is Ronny. I like it.

396.5 | Monica | TSG::CHANG | | Fri Jun 02 1989 14:39 | 6 |
| What's the meaning of Veronica (I like one -r instead of two)?
I just talked with them yesterday. They are now considering the
name Monica. Is there a nickname for Monica? What's the meaning
of it?
Thanks, Wendy

| Veronica, True image, Latin
Monica, An advisor, Latin
I don't know any nicknames for Monica.

| I think Monica is pretty. The only (two) Monicas I ever knew (until
recently) used their full name, no nicknames.
I know a Monica now who uses Moni (pronounced Moanie). I really
don't care for this, but I don't think it's one that would ever
occur to other people to use unless you do.
If you really want a nickname for it, why not Nicki?

| How about Anjelica. I agree with A.B. it should be a long one.

396.10 | More comments please | TSG::CHANG | | Thu Jun 08 1989 10:35 | 15 |
| Thanks for all the responses. They have narrowed down their
choice to four names:
Victoria
Monica
Sobrina
Lilian
Any comments regarding these four names?
Re: Tracy,
They like the nickname Nicki for Monica, thanks for the suggestion.

| I vote for Monica Swei. I like the nickname Nicki.
Victoria (Vicki) Swei is nice too.

396.12 | How about "Monika"? | CLOVE::MACDONALD_K | | Fri Jun 09 1989 14:42 | 10 |
| I had a friend in school (a lovely person, by the way) who spells
her name Monika. She was always referred to as "Moni". I think
Monica sounds great with Swei - but I think I'm partial to spelling
it with a "k" as opposed to a "c" - just to be a little different.
All the names that have been mentioned sound very good, but my vote
definately goes to Monica or Monika.

| A few spelling corrections:
o Lillian, not Lilian
o Sabrina, not Sobrina
o Angelica, not Anjelica
Except for Sabrina (which is just too alliterative for me),
I like all your choices. If I had to pick a favorite, it would
probably be Victoria.

396.14 | My vote | SKIWVA::FSCNO | | Fri Jun 16 1989 09:24 | 6 |
| I vote for Victoria too. Although I don't really care for Vicki.
re .13 I don't think there are any spelling corrections, there are
always more than one variation for any name.

Good point. You might also, though, want to check out 285.5.

396.16 | LINNEA | PEAKTR::SHEPELUK | | Wed Jun 28 1989 11:49 | 23 |
| HI,
I like the choices but, can I throw a few more suggestions in the
pot? Here are a few more:
Valerie Swei
Linnea Swei (pronounced La NA ah) ((My new niece's name)!
Veneas Swei
Monique Swei
I think Linnea Swei sounds real pretty - even as I wrote these -
I noticed Venesa may not be so good since it ends with an S and
Swei starts with one, sorta gets stuck.
Well good luck to them!
Regards,
- Linnea's Aunt
