How about the name Eric? I know it is a popular name, but I like it very much. It gives me an impression of "bright" and "strong". My babyname book says it means "powerful". I like it so much that I named my son Eric. Wendy

My book says it means either "always ruler" or "ruler of all" -- is this appropriate for your household. As Mary Jo pointed out, it's from Norse. Very popular in Scandinavia, where it's usually spelled "Erik." Not really used in English-speaking countries until the middle of the 19th century, but very popular ever since. -- Cliff

My book says it means ever-ruler; ever-powerful. A short form of Frederick. Cindy
