| My book say Travis comes from a surname meaning "toll-keeper."
I hope this doesn't shape his future!

| Well a couple years later and yes, I did have a boy!
And I did name him Travis Joseph McKenzie.
One thing about his name though is that when I go to
the doctor for him, one of the nurses there always
says, "Is there a Travesty here?", when they're ready
to see him and I hate that.
Oh well. Nancy :-)

| That nurse is NOT being very professional, nor funny. I sincerely hope
that you told, NOT ASKED, her to stop.
K.C. (who has a nephew named Travis)

| Not only is she unprofessional and unfunny, she's showing her
stupidity. I find it difficult to believe that she could be
so rude as to intentionally call your son "Travesty". I think
she's probably just an idiot, but at the same time I would correct
her and ask her not to repeat her error. Hey, I've never even met
this nurse and I don't like her already! BTW - your son's name is
very nice. You've chosen one that's cute for a little boy, but
very dignified for when he's an adult. Congratulations.

| Have you said anything to her about the error?
Do you really think she did it on purpose? She may "think" that's how
it is pronounced. It's rather easy to sound out the name, but maybe she
sees the s on the end and looks quickly and says the isty at the end.
I'd say - "Your pronouncing my son's name wrong, it is
TraVis" - I think that would do, no sense in getting all "mad" at her.
If she keeps it up, and ignores your request - then it's different.
Ask her "What makes you pronouce his name that way, it is Travis.
There is not and y at the end" Then she might get embarrased enough
to make a note in your son's file next to his name to remind herself.
That's what a profes. should do if they are having trouble remembering
something important to a patient.
